Fire Fire Destroys Popular Phuket Bar After Two Explosions Heard
Picture from responders. A fire has devastated the well-known Hua Phan bar in the heart of Phuket Town, following reports of two loud explosions. Firefighters battled the blaze for over an hour before bringing it under control. Authorities are now working to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage. The incident occurred in the early hours of 29 April. Pol. Sub-Lt. Bandita Thongoon, Deputy Inspector at Phuket City Police Station, received a call from the radio centre reporting a fire at Hua Phan Bar, located in Talad Nuea sub-district, Mueang Phuket District. She responded immediately, accompanied by Pol. Col. Chatree Chukaew, Superintendent of Phuket City Police Station. Upon arrival, police met Mr. Sompong, who identified himself as the manager of the bar. Mr. Sompong stated that around 02.50 while he was at the front of the establishment, he noticed smoke rising from the stage area inside. He then saw flames erupting from the mezzanine level, where the bar’s main electrical panels were situated. Mr. Sompong promptly called the fire service. Fire crews worked intensively and were able to control the fire by approximately 03.55. While a full inventory of losses is still being conducted, it is understood that the venue has suffered extensive damage. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. Initial investigations revealed that neighbours observed smoke and heard two loud explosion-like sounds before the fire broke out. The police have cordoned off the site and have requested forensic experts to conduct a detailed examination to determine the precise cause of the blaze. The investigation into the cause of the fire and the overall financial losses remains ongoing. Adapted by Asean Now from Daily News 2025-04-29. -

Russia Dismisses Trump’s Ukraine Peace Plan Offers 3 Day Ceasefire
Europe's ability to replace the US is limited but is evolving. France, UK and EU are driving alternative peace frameworks. US military and diplomatic weight are big factors. At the moment, Europe's proposal risk being undermined by Russia's intransigence and Trump's transactional approach. I believe at the end of the day, success will hinged in Europe manintaining unity, accelerate defense spending and reduce dependency on Washington. I also believe that Putin's hold on Russia in this war has a limited time span. Sooner than later he will be "sidelined" by events and a genuine peace plan with Europe will happen. Just my humble opinion. -

Decisions, decisions, where to stay in retirement?
Maya killed Kad Suan Kaew I think. They were too close to each other and obviously one old and broken down. That's 3 solid malls (including Airport). I question if CM really has customers to make another one profitable. Are malls even still popular as ever? I hate going to those things and finding parking then walking around in circles to get to one shop. Such a pain in the ass. For kids and families it's a fun way to kill time but not a good experience for actual shopping. -
