Pattaya rescue officials from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation received a report at approximately 07.50 on November 22, from a concerned citizen about a body floating near Wong Amat Beach. The deceased, believed to be a foreigner, had washed ashore. The Pattaya City Police Station was promptly informed, and officers were dispatched to the scene.

The incident occurred near Wong Amat Tower, within Soi Pattaya-Naklua 16, Moo 5, Naklua Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District. Upon arrival, officials found locals gathered near the body, which was floating face-up close to the shoreline. Rescue teams cordoned off the area and retrieved the body from the water.

The deceased was identified as a foreign male, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old, approximately 170–180 cm tall. He was shirtless, wearing black trousers, and had a short haircut. Initial assessments suggest the man had been dead for no more than four hours.

Upon inspecting the body, authorities discovered an iPhone 5 in the pocket of his trousers, a gold watch on his left wrist, a gold necklace, and a gold ring on his left ring finger. However, no identification documents were found to confirm his nationality.

Mrs. Preaw Pinyoying, an 83-year-old local resident, recounted a passerby fishing in the area had informed her of the floating body, about 30 metres from the shore. The waves appeared to be pushing it towards the beach. The fisherman asked Mrs. Preaw to immediately notify police and rescue officials.

Police speculate that the man may have been walking on the beach in the early morning, when a pre-existing medical condition caused his sudden death. No signs of foul play were detected, although minor scrapes on the body, likely caused by rocks in the water, were observed.

As the area is relatively quiet during the early morning, there were no witnesses to confirm when or how the man entered the water.

The body has been transported to Bang Lamung Hospital, where it will be kept pending identification and contact with the deceased’s family for religious rites. Investigation into the case continues.

RIP. With the gold jewelry and iPhone 5 he obviously wasn’t robbed. Maybe heart attack after a busy evening.  This brings the importance of having some identity on you while on holiday. Like the young lady who died on Lonely beach Koh Chang and they took time finding who she was.  Think a a dog tag would be a good idea , think I’ll get one myself. You can loose a wallet easily. If I’m not mistaken there are a few 5 star hotels around that area.

amazing you came to this conclusion so quickly. I did not read into this where it said he had cash on him? Did I miss something? What foreigner is out in the middle of the night and the post suggests without any money in his pockets? I think it is easier to lose your Iphone than your wallet.

Perhaps, it would be a good idea to post your theories after even a minimal investigation is concluded.

People have mentioned placing the hospital you want to go to, the number for ambulance 1719, and the name of someone to call in your wallet or back of phone. Your insurance card also.

Thinking might not be bad idea if something happens.

I was thinking of getting a bar code tattoo of my passport info, etc... but I am an American and passport number changes each time you get a new one, unlike other countries that are more on the ball

In developed nations, pet owners are encouraged to have their pets microchipped.

I think this potentially could save a lot of inconvenience, say at Immigration. They could just scan you rather than asking for packs of paperwork each time. It would also help in this type of situation when your corpse is washed up on a beach. "Beep", scan et voila they know who you are.
