A horrific road crash claimed the lives of three individuals, including two young children, when a pickup truck collided with a motorcycle in Khun Han District, Sisaket. The driver of the pickup, who was found to be heavily intoxicated, has been arrested and faces serious charges.

At approximately 12:30 on December 1, Pol. Lt. Pracherng Ounkaew, deputy investigator at Khun Han Police Station, received a report of a collision involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle on the Ban Huai Chan–Ban Nam Mut Road near Sam Pika intersection in Huai Chan Subdistrict. Rescue teams and law enforcement were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers found a damaged Toyota Vigo pickup truck that had crashed into a rubber tree after veering off the road. Vehicle debris was scattered across the area, but the driver had fled the scene. He was later identified as Mr. Lamphueng  50, a resident of Bak Dong Subdistrict, Khun Han District.

Nearby, authorities discovered a red and white Honda Wave 125 motorcycle that had been completely wrecked. Two individuals, Ms. Pattararat 22 and Woraphon, 6, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim, Natthaphat 7, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to eyewitnesses, both vehicles were traveling in the same direction. The motorcycle had stopped at the intersection, preparing to turn right, when the pickup truck suddenly plowed into it at high speed. The impact sent all three victims flying, with one child, Woraphon, becoming trapped under the pickup truck. Amid the chaos, the driver of the pickup fled but was apprehended by police at his residence shortly after.

Mr. Saengrawee the father of Woraphon explained that Ms. Pattararat, his younger sister, was a vocational student at Khun Han Vocational College. Both children were primary school students, Woraphon in kindergarten and Natthaphat in first grade. The three victims had been riding the motorcycle to buy snacks before returning to help with farm work.

“I spoke with Mr. Lamphueng, the driver, and he admitted he was drunk. I hope the authorities enforce the law to its fullest extent,” he said.

When questioned, Mr. Lamphueng, visibly intoxicated and incoherent, admitted to drinking large amounts of white liquor with friends prior to the incident. He claimed he was unaware of how the accident unfolded due to his impaired state. He also suffered a broken right shoulder during the crash.

Police confirmed that Mr. Lamphueng’s blood alcohol level was far exceeding the legal limit. He was detained and charged with reckless driving causing death and fleeing the scene of an accident.

He's 50.

He will die in Jail.

Not so sure about that. I don't believe that Thailand imposes the kind of penalties for vehicular manslaughter as most western countries. In fact it may only involve a heavy fine and loss of licence.

The driver was 50. It's a max of 10 years, don't think that's for each person, but I could be wrong.

30 Years for wreckless driving?
Me thinks that a "Sorry" to the parents of the kids and a brown enveloppe to the police will be sufficient.

So if someone killed 3 of your family you would be happy with a "sorry" a brown envelope to the police and that would be sufficient...

you must be more forgiving than me?

We are talking about a Thai  national driving the Toyota vigo intoxicated.A Wai.fine, possible lossof license and no more than upto 3 months imprisonment. But if it was a non Thai national things would be a lot worse for the driver.
