Here is the key difference:

People in the UK seem to think about and be obsessed with the US all the time.

In the US, we hardly think about the UK at all.

This is true, and when i am thinking about the UK it is usually out of pity

Misnoma adding the word 'culture' to the US.

LOL, ok UK definitely wins when it comes to pretension, condescension, affectation and snobbery.

That superior UK culture that gave the world Benny Hill, Russel Brand, and Frankie Boyle, oh yes.

Years ago you could have fooled me with the idea of British superiority, but since meeting a lot of Brits in my travels in Asia I can say that British yobs are a match (in a bad way) for American hicks.

The media are obsessed with Trump as he brings in traffic, views and revenue,  but the population isn't.  other than him the news from the US is normally for Wars, bullying, sucking up to israel, racist cops or mass shootings, rarely anything positive.

That superiority was only ever imagined - it was the inane insecurity of your fellow citizens that inflated it.

Jesus, please don't try and claim the higher ground when it comes to comedy.....😂

most ignorant comment of the week, don't get your panties in a bunch

It is not ignorant, but a sad reflection of reality.

Multiple studies demonstrate the ignorance of the typical US citizen; A survey commissioned from Gallup by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) and the National Geographic Society (NGS) finds that adult Americans exhibit gaps in their knowledge about geography and world affairs. Overall, respondents answered just over half of the knowledge questions correctly, and only 6 percent got at least 80 percent of the questions right.    https://www.cfr.org/sites/default/files/report_pdf/NatGeo_CFR_US Knoweldge.pdf

1. As a Brit, everyone believes the TV presenter is guilty.

2. As a sane member of the human race, no one believes the rape fantasist who actually said on national TV she has said fantasy.

3. As an observer - every single one of you Democrats would have voted for Bill Clinton this year if you had the chance. The guy who ejaculated on an intern inside the Oval Office.

By the way, read the transcripts of the Hunter Biden trial, where he admits he turned his brothers widow into a crack whore.

Between Weinstein, P Diddy, Epstein, Clinton, and the Biden family, you Democrats need to shut your stupid mouths.

I'll pass this on to the former Saville procecutors and see if they agree and then get Mohammed over at your town council to approve.

I think this is a pretty reasonable assessment of the state of knowledge of a lot of Americans.

Do you imagine that the average Brit understands the British government any better?

Nope. I expect that in some regions they are as ignorant as any American.

"That superiority was only ever imagined"

You just asserted it with your quip about the US and Culture.

"don't try and claim the higher ground when it comes to comedy"

Not at all, just saying that British culture isn't superior to the US, lot of low brow in the UK.

You seem a bit defensive, does this feel like an attack?

Nothing from me is an attack in this particular case.

I hope your post is not trying to bait Brits. Obsess over Americans?

You only need to go to the AN topics on the US and see how many UK people spend their time there. OTOH, not many Americans go to the UK topics. I know I maybe read five or so percent of them, and rarely post a message. And as for "John Drake," McGoohan was born and died in the US; he was an American citizen; he worked in the US; he was not a British citizen. You're free to claim Peter Lawford, however, if you want him.

And a bit o' SATIRE for you from the SATIRICAL Babylon Bee.

'Allahu Akbar' Replaces 'Cheerio, Mate!' As Most Popular UK Greeting

The results of the survey show "Allahu Akbar" beating out "Cheerio mate" in what experts are calling a "flippin' landslide, old bean."

"It's not really that surprising, what what?" said Baxter Edwin Bartleby III, a senior pollster. "Just reflects the social and cultural makeup of the jolly old Realm now, dunnit? Quite. 'Pon my Sam, I didn't b'leeve my peepers when I first took a goggle at the results, but it's right sensible once you think about it for a minute, innit? I use it all the time, myself. . . . guess it's our culture now, so that makes it better? Rather."

Bartleby was then stabbed repeatedly by a Libyan immigrant shouting "Allahu Akbar."

It is said that the UK and US are two countries divided by a common language. There are also other things that divide them.

UNITED KINGDOM

Currently, the big story in the UK news is of the presenter of a very popular TV show being accused, by various women, of ‘inappropriate’ or ‘sexually suggestive’ words and actions.  On one occasion the presenter is reported to have ‘pushed himself so close to a woman (in a crowded room) that she could feel the shape of his genitals against her body’.  Another alleged incident was when a woman reported being with the presenter when his trousers had become lowered and, as he was not wearing underwear, the woman suggested she could see ‘pubic hair and part of his genital area’.

This TV presenter is fighting for his career and, if the allegations prove to be true, he will undoubtedly lose he lucrative job and his reputation may be such that he will never work in UK TV again.

UNITED STATES

The presenter of a very popular American TV show was caught on camera boasting of how, when meeting women, he would ‘grab their genitalia’.  Furthermore, in another incident, a civil court case against the American TV presenter led to a jury finding him guilty of sexually assaulting a woman.  The Judge suggested that the assault fell barely short of rape.  The jury awarded the victim tens of millions of dollars in compensation from the TV presenter.

JANUARY 2025

In January 2025, the UK TV presenter may, if things do not go well for him, find himself in serious problems, without prospect of employment and possibly facing legal action against him.

I n January 2025, The US TV presenter will become the next president of the United States. Two countries divided by more than just a common language.

You should take up comedy. You'll be a hit.

They also gave us the Goons, The Goodies, Monty Python, Round the Horn, etc. All the US has is not funny guys like Steve Martin, and the pathetic Adam Sandler. US comedy is so useless that they have to use British comedy shows like "the Office".

If US comedy shows didn't have a laugh track no one would know it was supposed to be funny.
