Delivery Rider Found Dead in Pickup Truck After Seven Days in Friend’s Driveway
Picture from responders. A 38-year-old food delivery rider was discovered dead in his pickup truck, parked at a friend’s home in Tha Sen, Ban Lat district, Phetchaburi province, after going missing for seven days. The incident was reported at 10:00 on December 23, prompting officers from Ban Lat Police Station, a medical examiner from Ban Lat Hospital, and rescue volunteers from Sawang Sanphetdhammasathan Foundation to respond. Upon arrival, authorities found a Toyota Vigo pickup truck parked in the driveway of the house, emitting a strong odour. Inside the vehicle, they discovered the deceased man lying on his back in the driver’s seat. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, and it was estimated he had been dead for approximately seven days. The deceased was identified as Mr. Phichitchai. Inside the truck, police found several beer bottles, packets of sleeping pills, and antidepressant medication scattered on the floor. There were no signs of struggle, violence, or missing valuables. The body was sent to the forensic unit for an autopsy to determine the exact cause and time of death. According to Mr. Por, a friend of the deceased, the man was a regular visitor to his home and had recently been experiencing personal issues, including a conflict with his girlfriend, who lives in another province. On December 17, the deceased had messaged Mr. Por via Facebook, stating he needed to travel to the southern region and requested to leave his truck in Mr. Por’s driveway. In his message, he instructed Mr. Por not to touch the truck, citing concerns about the vehicle’s anti-theft alarm. He also mentioned that if he was not heard from by Monday, Mr. Por should inform his uncle about the truck’s location. However, on the morning of December 23, Mr. Por noticed a foul smell coming from the truck and decided to investigate, only to discover his friend’s body inside. Neighbours stated that the deceased, a food delivery rider, was known to frequently visit Mr. Por and other friends for social gatherings. His last known visit was on December 17, after which he was not seen again until his body was found. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. -- 2024-12-24 -
