never, ever struck/beat my children - learned from my parents.  Discipline does not need to be violent.  I learned early in life the difference between bad and good and my parents were never religious.

No it doesn't, Thailand is a developing nation which is becoming increasingly more commercialized, and its been long since proven that Thailand hasa higher percentage of home owners than almost all western european countries. Plus its second highest source in its GDP always remains on the up, so think again friend.

The real joke is they're doing their alignment during the time when the West is in catastrophic decline and falling apart across the spectrum. All the worst ideas that led to this decline they're now adopting and striving for. They really have no clue.

Really? Housing prices are one of our most serious problems now but I see most Thais living with family in generational homes. Maybe that's true but it's because they aren't owning their homes in the same we are. We would have the same rates I'm sure if people never moved out of their parents house.

 

The availability of cheap condos may the reason too but that's not a great way to live and probably leading the decline in birth rates since it's hard to start a family like that.

Yes, you can't beat spending your entire life to pay off your morgage! Given that we have an indoors culture, we do need to keep those payments up, along with god knows how many others.

One of the reason I moved out of CM was the proliferation of housing projects. Thai's are doing the exact same thing now and it's sad. If you look a Google maps over the city you can see it's just one big sprawling mess of these horrible congested housing projects often off of busy noisy roads. It's just depressing to see them adopt this and it's probably even worse than America because of how artificial and cramped they are. Yet they're lining up to live in their box with the mutlti-decade mortgage and car they need to drive everywhere. Sad.

It wasn't the smack on the ar$e that hurt, it was the look of disappointment on my parents face when I had done something wrong (combined with not getting any dinner as I was a bit of a chubster in my younger days). 

 

Nowadays, no sense of shame shown by a large number of youths. Generally, just utter contempt for their elders.
