Quick action by the Tourist Police prevented an incident when a woman attempted to take her own life by jumping into the Chao Phraya River near Rama VIII Bridge in Bangkok.

At approximately 07:15 on December 17, Pol. Lt. Col. Jirapat Kheawsiri, Deputy Superintendent of Tourist Police Division 1, acting as Superintendent of Station 3, received a report from a concerned citizen about a woman preparing to jump into the water near the pier under Rama VIII Bridge. Pol. Lt. Col. Jirapat, along with patrol officers, rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found the woman partially submerged, sitting with half her body in the water, attempting to slide further in. Officers quickly intervened, pulling her to safety and ensuring no harm befell her. She was brought to Tourist Police Station 3, where officers provided dry clothes and consoled her to alleviate her distress.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the woman had traveled by public transport from a village in Nonthaburi with the intention of ending her life. Officers obtained contact information for her family and facilitated communication with her relatives.

Shortly afterward, the woman's grandson arrived at the station. In a heartwarming moment, the grandson embraced his grandmother and kissed her cheek, a gesture reciprocated by the woman as the family reunited.

The Tourist Police ensured the woman was safely escorted home with her family, offering emotional support and emphasising the importance of seeking help during times of distress.
