The Search and Rescue Unit of the First Regional Maritime Security Coordination Center (SRC1) swiftly responded to a fishing incident in the Gulf of Thailand on December 16, providing prompt assistance to a fisherman who sustained serious injuries.

The victim, a crew member aboard the fishing vessel Kittima 88, suffered a severe hand injury when a rope became entangled around his fingers, which were ripped off, resulting in a serious blood loss.

Rear Admiral Apah Chapanon, Director of SRC1, issued orders for a rescue mission, dispatching a vessel to the location, approximately 15 nautical miles from the mouth of Pranburi River in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The mission was coordinated by Lieutenant Colonel Ruangrit Saengkaew, Deputy Director of SRC1, and police officers from Pranburi Maritime Police, alongside officers from the Border Patrol Police who assisted in the operation.

The rescue team departed from the Pranburi Maritime Police Dock, arriving at the scene around 90 minutes later. The injured fisherman was successfully brought aboard the rescue vessel and given medical care, before being transported back to the Pranburi Police Dock. There, the local hospital in Pranburi was notified, and medical personnel were on hand to provide immediate treatment.

The owner of the fishing vessel, Mrs. Sirilak Saknawiporn, expressed her gratitude to the SRC1, Prachuap Khiri Khan Maritime Security Center, and the Pranburi Maritime Police for their quick and effective response. “We are deeply grateful for the swift assistance provided by the SRC1 and the police team,” she said.

The Thai Maritime Search and Rescue Center (SRC) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of maritime activities, safeguarding the nation’s interests in the sea and ensuring the well-being of the public.

“SRC is the principal agency responsible for integrating national maritime security operations, earning recognition at the regional level for its role in ensuring the country’s security, prosperity, and sustainability,” said a spokesperson from the SRC.
