Police surround shooter during intense standoff on December 19, after shooting incident occurred in Nong Hua Chang Subdistrict, Phon Charoen District, Bueng Kan Province, where a man opened fire on residents, leaving two dead and two injured.

 

The perpetrator, described as a man in his 30s, used a firearm to attack villagers in the area. Following the incident, police mobilized a force of over 30 officers to the scene after identifying that the gunman had barricaded himself inside a house.

 

Officers surrounded the residence, with gunshots periodically heard from inside. The suspect reportedly fired at police during the standoff. After hours of negotiations and an intense siege, the suspect ultimately turned the weapon on himself, taking his own life to evade capture.

 

The incident resulted in two fatalities at the scene, while two others were injured and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. One of the injured was a medical responder who was shoot through the window of the ambulance, as it arrived at the scene.

 

Authorities are now investigating the motive behind the shooting and examining the weapon used. Initial reports are the incident stems from a long running domestic dispute with his neighbours.
