I sure could not my golf budget is twice that.  That is 700 b a day lots of poor British do it with their lousy frozen pensions, so I guess it is possible.

Come and give it a try for a month.  If you get hungry, they throw a lot of food waste here I am sure the garbage cans at the malls are a gold mine.

I must admit I have never been into  golf and I heard it's expensive too

Yes I need some pointers on budget control

IF you own your own residence, then yes, quite easy, and we do in now, on about 17k a month.

Without owning, I could do it on 20k, but it wouldn't be a life I'd probably enjoy.  I need a nice car, and to travel O&A.    Living in a rented box condo, or even a townhouse, doesn't appeal to me, as I need my perks.  Rent & utilities for someplace comfy would take up too much income, and wouldn't leave much for munching.

Probably wouldn't appreciate living in an urban environment.

Any health issues, and 20k wouldn't be enough.

will buy a small room in the Flybird Condo in Pattaya

don't drink alcohol

Living in Flybird you will start to drink.

I see Lots of foreigners living in Flybird, drinking outside 7eleven, out front of Flybird every afternoon.

ChickyBabes would be your expense, if you're on a budget, I heard the ladyboy's are much cheaper.

Ok so I have been envisioning my lifestyle and please I added this word "envisioning" after I saw it written on here so don't qoute me as I don't know the meaning !

But I have been thinking that I buy a Flybird Condo  ( Pattaya) and have it beautiful with nice neon colours and clean

Then I own it ....I have 20,000 baht a month now to live on?

Can I do it ?

Food shopping ? Where can I shop ? Markets I guess

Electric should be 1500

The problem is....even though I live in Australia I am still not acclimatise to the heat so need Air conditioning although most Flybird have a balcony with a breeze

I may have to buy several fans

Food bill may be high,I need to eat protein

Gym I will have to use Tony's ( Pattaya) as it's walking distance 800b a month

Please tell me how working class this  do it ?

I don't but I know of quire a few who do up here in the North.

The problem with living in the north is lack of public transport otherwise I would.

I need to be near markets ,gym ,etc

Not difficult to do. I transfer 3k every month to our utilities account and that covers water, electric, Netflix, cooking gas, mobile.

A tank of diesel costs me 2k, that gives me 1k kms a month.

Food? Whatever the grocery bill turns out to be.

Toys? I have enough.

Alcohol.bars/women....no interest.

20k might leave me a little bored but it';s doable, sure it is.

What are you doing for visa and health insurance ?

Posted

Basically groceries in supermarkets are the same price in any city

In fact some prices in Thailand were more expensive than Australia so I may have to forget the supermarket for grocery items

Shop in the Thai markets, they're cheaper and usually better quality

Thais do it by pooling their income, and sharing accommodation and expenses. Either as an extended family, or friends living together.

I admit I haven't been to Chiang mai for about 12 years

I don't think it was that cheap

I will check out Chiang Mai on my next trip in February

Do you think it's any cheaper than say Pattaya in regards to Gym , groceries , day to day expenses

Do they go to Starbucks?

Of course they do.  They can't afford it but it's necessary.  It should not be part of your plans however.

Chiang Mai is a very large province, the cost of things in the center and in certain areas can be higher than the norm. But go 20kms out and everything becomes reasonably priced and you still have easy inexpensive access to the center, if you want it (after a while you wont).

Is 20 kms out of the center of CM cheaper than in the farang areas of Pattaya? I would say almost certainly yes.

Maybe look at buying a condo outside of Pattaya, also look for Bank repossession condos, can buy cheaper but it is a journey in itself. 20,000 bhat a month is not much money and if you drink then it will not last. Maybe look at a non tourist city to live in.

What are you doing for the 800k in the bank requirement ?

good luck with self insure given you are (as you claim) very very poor.
