It seems she returned to her employment on the basis of promises that were not fulfilled by the company.

Her behavior is called 'quiet quitting'...     the Op's wife appears to have played the game well and received a solid compensation package - I'd argue thats smarter than allowing herself be continuing to be bullied in the work place.

Expand

What she did is not quiet quitting at all.  Read the definition of it.

Expand

Quiet Quitting: doing the minimum requirements of one's job and putting in no more time, effort, or enthusiasm than absolutely necessary...  the definition and the Ops explanation is fairly clear:

The Ops Wife basically forced them to make her redundant or accept that she wasn't going to be doing certain duties and wasn't going to kow-tow to the bosses...

Its up to you if you want to interpret something different....

I agree with you. Bar girls could find another job. They are just lazy.

Wake up BritMan - many Thai citizens are 100% ethnically Chinese just like in Britain where many British citizens are 100% ethnically from different groups.

Dude, I saw your profile on Facebook. You're full of tats and look unemployed living in some village, yet you are bragging here about being paid bigly by some company.

Here's a hint.....don't use the same Facebook username as you use on forums.

Your 'consideration' is somewhat irrelevant when it lacks accuracy.

Chinese can mean different things based on the context: a person’s nationality, their ethnic background, or their cultural affiliation.

In the context of this thread... its obvious what 'Chinese' means...  The Ops Wife is a person of Thai nationality with Chinese heritage, i.e. lineage is direct to Chinese ancestry.

The Thai-Chinese (Descendants of Chinese immigrants - Teochew, Hakka, and Hokkien) are just one of the ethnic groups that make up the population of Thailand which also includes Central Thai (Siamese), Northern Thai (Lanna/Khon Mueang), Isan (Northeastern Thai), Southern Thai, (Descendants of Chinese immigrants - Teochew, Hakka, and Hokkien), Malay Thai, Hill Tribes (Karen, Hmong, Lahu, Akha, Lisu, Yao (Mien), Khmer (Cambodian) Thai, Mon, Indian Thai, Viet Thai, Sea Gypsies (Moken and Urak Lawoi).

All are Thai but have their own ethnicity and subculture predating Passports.

If you're talking about prostitution, nobody says this.  Everyone knows that there is a choice, but some choose the easy, high paying option.

When was the last time you heard a Canadian refer to himself as American?  Americans are the citizens and nationals of the United States of America.

Let's do this again sometime.

Lets do it now !!...

Only the Americans claim a whole continent - America consists of 35 countries.

When someone from the USA states they are American, they do so in ignorance of the other 34 nations of America...  USA does not have a demonym, so out of convenience people from the USA use American.

When Europeans are asked where they are from, they don't state Europe, much in the same way Canadian's, Mexicans or Argentinians don't state they are American.

So... you are right, people from the USA classify themselves as American, and that was my point - is it not somewhat arrogant to 'take over' the name of the continent in which another 34 nations exist ?

Hence the question - which part of America ?...   You could have easily written "I'm citizen of the USA" and removed ambiguity...   you went with American out of habit which has formed out of historical laziness.

You're welcome !

It’s interesting how some individuals manage to summon some form of offence over others having a Thai-Chinese partner.

In some threads posters are accusing anyone who claims their spouse isn’t an Isaan farm girl of fabricating the story.

As for the OP's point, it’s a fair observation: his partner, upon facing unemployment, promptly secured new opportunities. This rather neatly dismantles the tired narrative that bar work is the only option for those in challenging circumstances. For those willing to roll up their sleeves, there’s evidently no shortage of alternatives. Perhaps it’s not the lack of opportunity that’s the issue, it’s the willingness to seize it.

Expand

for sure there are opportunities aplenty for anyone with a bit of drive, imagination and hard work ethic, pretty much the same as in many other countries.

Canadian coins have "CANADA" on them, Mexican coins "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" or "United Mexican States" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" on U.S. coins.  Central and South American countries have other variations.  I have never seen anyone challenging the wording on these coins.

Feel free to challenge the use of the word "American" to describe citizens of the U.S.  However, much of the world doesn't seem to have a problem.
