Phuket to Host Thailand's First Legal Same-Sex Marriages in January

Phuket will host Thailand's first legal same-sex marriages on January 22, 2025, at Jungceylon shopping mall, Patong. This historic event, "DOPA Day One: Equality Rings in 878 Districts," celebrates inclusivity under the theme "Embracing Equality: Love Wins." It follows the Civil and Commercial Code Amendment Act (No. 24) 2024, enabling legal same-sex unions. The ceremony includes symbolic marriage registrations and press activities. Couples can register from January 6-15 through the Phuket Provincial or Kathu District Office. This milestone highlights Phuket’s commitment to equality and diversity in Thailand.
