Cardano Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I can't for the life of me believe that any sane person would actually consider answering this question, and I'm even more baffled that some people have actually commented on it.

There is nothing to love or hate, what matters is the truth. I think you misunderstand. "Good" in this case is not expressing entertainment value. Instead, it means value in convincing people to think outside the box and question their assumptions. Flat Earth is a "bad" conspiracy because it is trivially disproven by simple math and logic. It doesn't require you to examine why you believe something is true. If 2+2=4, then Riemann geometry follows and the earth is round. A good conspiracy requires a hidden or complex system and the ability to expose unrecognized biases within your thought processes. That in turn, can reveal something about the nature of society that you previously failed to consider. Ultimately, that advances the human condition for everyone. 1

JulesMad Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Simple Conclusion: 14.29% of AN readers are extremely stupid and deny reality. It would be very interesting to know from what countries these 14.29% are... I think I know
digger70 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Is Earth round or flat ? For me I don't care , it maybe be a Octagon or a Flat Circle or Square . We are not going to fall off it ,that's what counts.

Now that you have broken it, well, on a spirit, credibility is now somewhat dissipated. But on a serious note. There is an easy way to prove the earth is in fact flat. And the concept is not a million miles away from your spirit leveler promotion. What we could do is get a hose pipe - say 100 miles long - and fill it with water, when it is full, the water will be the same height at either end. Proof! Easy peasey, lemon squeezy. There are so many easy ways to prove the earth is flat. One is by running in different directions - over say 200 metres -and carefully timing oneself. All the times will be exactly the same. Proof! Another is by stringing a line between Cape Horn and Cape Cod, and pulling it really tight. Proof! 1
Bohemianfish Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I read the Earth is flat for 20 miles in any direction, then there's curvature setting in. It's all relative.

Having been around the world a few times in both planes and boats, I never fell off the edge. So, I am always there, some distance away. Somewhere between land or sea I lay. You may move towards me but distant I stay. What am I?

My take, is that there are over one BILLION people in the world that think the earth is flat. Do they know something that the spherical earthers don't? There is so much stuff that is hidden from us. Why can't you fly from the southern part of Chile to Sth Africa? look at a globe. It's just a short hop. But on a flat earth plan they are opposite each other. One earlier poster (@Surasak) said that he had not fallen off the edge of the world. Of course not. The earth is surrounded by a mile-high mountain of ice. Why do you think the rabid Climate Changers are are so worried? If the ice melts away, it could expose the very edge. 1 2
Etaoin Shrdlu Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Earth was spherical until the Covid jab flattened it. 1

Re your funny comment and my comment about someone with a large spirit level. I should have said at the time there is a very large spirit level, it is called the sea, and so if the earth was flat, when we stand on the beach we should be able to see more than a few miles into the distance, in fact, we would be able to see Mount Everest. Plus my GPS would not work if there were no satellites in space. So now your spirit level is broken due to a ghost we will be in the dark forever. 🤣

Oh dear oh dear, of course you have never fallen off the end of the world, Trump had a 20-foot-high fence around it decades ago, it is there to keep all the Aliens out. By the way, I was an alien once, I worked in New Jersey for a year and before going there I had to fill out an alien landing card, so that means I became an alien and remained one for a year, once I left the USA I was not an alien anymore not even here in Thailand, I am now a farang. 😄

The absence of direct flights from Southern Chile to South Africa is driven by economic viability and operational logistics rather than any geographic or physical barrier. Airlines opt for routes that maximise efficiency and passenger numbers, and in this case, the indirect routes via hubs better serve those needs. 11 minutes ago, Stiddle Mump said: One earlier poster (@Surasak) said that he had not fallen off the edge of the world. What about the big fence built by ancient civilisation of giants that used the cookie cutter to shape the flat disk of earth ? Billion ??? Some surveys in the United States have indicated that roughly 2% of Americans might believe the Earth is flat. While the flat Earth belief exists, its often amplified by online communities and remains a fringe view. But... Assuming there are as many fruit-cakes in the rest of the world as there are in the USA... The 2% of the population believing in a flat-earth would be 160.5 Million People... Thats still a lot of complete loons !!! 2
