What was the point to escalate it if they were hotel guests in the first place, just let them sleep it out and then do the formalities. Jailing someone for breaking a glass table sounds insane to me.

Anyone who is drunk and incapable in public should automatically be put in jail until they are sober if it takes more than one night, then so be it, followed by a fine.

A British holidaymaker is spent Christmas Day in a Thai prison cell following an alleged drunken incident in the lobby of the Flipper Lodge Hotel in Pattaya. The woman reportedly attempted to engage in sexual activity with her partner on a glass table, causing it to shatter.

According to witnesses, the couple, who were not hotel guests, entered the premises at around 03.00 and began behaving inappropriately. Hotel staff stated that the pair initially started on a sofa before transitioning to the glass table, which broke under the strain.

A hotel porter pursued the woman after the destruction, but events escalated further when she reportedly fought with a police officer near the beach. Video footage shows bystanders assisting law enforcement in subduing her.

In one clip, the woman, dressed in a white mini-dress, is seen shouting obscenities at locals while being escorted in handcuffs. Her boyfriend, who had been involved in the earlier incident, quietly left the scene.

Police Lieutenant General Ittikorn Saikratok, speaking about the incident, said:

“The British woman is still in the cell this afternoon, but she is very drunk and incoherent. She has no identification on her, and we are waiting for her to sober up before proceeding further. A translator will assist us in determining the next steps.”

The Flipper Lodge Hotel staff confirmed the couple’s actions caused property damage. A spokesperson explained:

“They were not hotel customers. We assumed they were guests, but they began behaving obscenely. After the table broke, we tried to remove them, but they refused and caused further commotion. Police were called to handle the situation.”

The woman faces potential charges for property damage and disorderly conduct. The hotel has filed a report and is awaiting further discussions about compensation once the woman sobers up.

Authorities are working to confirm her identity, while the incident has sparked widespread attention online.

The British woman’s chaotic Christmas Day has been marked by drunken outbursts, insults at locals, and time spent behind bars, a far cry from the idyllic holiday she may have planned.

Cue the unforgiving and repressively puritanical looking down their nose at drunken behaviour in Pattaya because they are so above it themselves.  Perhaps this forum should be retitled Prissy Now.

Sounds like you may have spent your share of nights sobering up in jail, so those of us who know our limits  and how to behave in public are now looking down our prissy common sense noses at your comment. Common sense is something you seem to have confused with being unforgiving and puritanical. You should have asked Santa for a dictionary for xmas. Not all drunken behavior is bad behavior. We know that, do you even know the difference? Some people who drink actually know how to behave. Ponder  that. Pattaya, and the world in general, can do without drunken fools whose behavior causes nothing but problems for responsible people having a harmlessly good time, who may or may not be drunk. Capisce?

Could not agree more, Its Pattaya for gods sake , the worlds number one hedonistic adult playground, and famous for any number of outrageous reasons. Long live Pattaya and lets have plenty more "shocking" stories like this one.

I cannot believe the amount of pearl clutching and outrage expressed by some members on here,  get over yourselves and get a life, and try to remember (or rather imagine)  what it was like to be young and crazy . Some of you would really be better suited to living on one of those floating granny farms disguised as a cruise ship, where you can get yourselves settled into the day room with a cup of milky tea or perhaps a game of bingo.

The OP does not specify what exactly they were doing and any Thais account of acting improperly could simply be holding her hand in public or acting sexy to the man. It does not mean having sex or doing sexual things in public

There is plenty of explanation in the accompanying article

As abhorent and shameful as this woman's behaviour is, you can bet this story becomes way bigger than that of the 80 year old Belgian man that was subjected to a knife attack and robbed in Pattaya.

None of my Thai friends have seen that story but they have seen this one.
