Getting a CC at Kasikorn bank

Featured Replies

I have had an account there for 15 years.  I am wondering what the process is for getting a credit card.  I understand they will want to hold X amount of funds.

I am not looking for a large card just 20 K limit.

It is more for day-to-day stuff and to remove my need for a Cdn card for small stuff

It’s the same as most banks, go in and ask apart from all the usual documents like passport etc. they will want a deposit of between 20k and 40k, probably on the lower end. It will probably take about thirty minutes to an hour.

however though I do have several credit cards I never need to use them in Thailand. I also have 2 bank ATM debit cards and virtually never need those, I use “Scan to Pay” on 99% of transactions, I have a small amount of cash that I virtually never use, SWMBO will use it and pay me back.

SWMBO Has a credit card that we use to build a credit score for herself and to use for the zero interest payments for some products, she doesn’t have debt or ATM cards and uses the “card-less ATM cash” option

TLDR there is little reason to get a low limit credit card.

My Kasikorn debit card works fine for that.  But if you really need it they will give you a debit card with your name on it, if you ask nicely.

Thanks

Just a note, in order to use their debit card for online transactions you need to activate "verified by VISA", a long time ago I had this issue when trying to add my card to my Grab account.  Here are the instructions;

If you have K BIZ or K PLUS, you can apply via our main website: > Apply for Services > Verified by VISA for Debit Card > Apply online and please follow the instructions below;

-Enter 16 digits of your debit card number and click “Register”
-Enter your Citizen ID or Passport ID-Enter the Expiry Date of your debit card
-Enter the account number linked with your debit card
-Enter your birth date and click “Next” and follow the steps on the screen

My card has “SMART” as the name and I have used it without problems

So TLDR nothing you have mentioned requires a credit card, they all work with debit cards. FWIW all my debit cards are in the master card network.

I had thought I needed my name on the card, I have discovered I don’t.

Mine is "Privileged Member", which is rather apt in fact.
