his music gives me a nervous breakdown

That's too bad. Well, before you quit Hendrix in a couple of days, have a listen to a Hendrix tribute album called "Stone Free". Lots of great artists on there.

how come this thread only has 2 pages? seems like a good topic.

Many prefer the darker, more negative topics where they can rant I assume. Perhaps too much honesty, introspection and self commitment required on this one for some.

I’d like to end the year on a positive note for myself and start to look forward to the coming year ahead.

Rather than making New Year’s resolutions, I prefer the idea of going into the following year with some personal goals.

Goals are great, but they also have to be achievable and within expectations, otherwise they can also lead to disappointment.

So I’ve just quickly written down 5 personal objectives for 2025 that I think are worthwhile, but also possible. Not in any particular order:

1 - Remain strong, positive and in good health

2 - Pursue more of my creative ideas

3 - Enjoy life more than in 2024

4 - Travel more in 2025

5 - Always aim to worry less and don’t overthink

Do you have any of your own?

Very much liked all 5 of yours and I will try to do all 5 myself, with the goal of appreciating and enjoying every day.

I have always wanted to visit Luang Prabang.

I lived there for quite a few years.  Don't visit in Jan-May >> too much smoke pollution!

My goals for 2025:

- Improve my Burmese language skills

- Travel more within Myanmar (if I have enough time off from work)

- Ramp up my educational charity (if $ allows!)

- Try not to get killed in the civil war....

Recently I saw a video about Elon Musk's thinking.

I don't agree with that guy in many ways, but he is without question very successful, and we can learn from him.

It seems for each of his companies he has every week the question: Which is the most important challenge this week? And then he works to solve that issue then and there.

Then the same for the next company. And again, next week.

That seems to me an interesting strategy.

So maybe next year I can ask myself every week: What is the most important thing which I should do/solve this week. And then do it.

that's right, introspection is not people's forte on AN.

watch out. gamma's latino boys thread will surpass your thread pretty soon.

Yes, keep on blasting the horn at motorcyclists who come down towards me on the wrong side of the road.

I will stop listening to Jimi Hendrix in 2025.

Should have stopped listening to him long ago. You would be as well listening to Peltin Elton?? No mate, you need to listen to real singers like Elvis and Roy Orbison. :guitar:

I have since retiring attempted to do at least one real task every day. As long as I do that one thing I can waste the rest of the day eg being on AN too long.

Recently I've noticed a reluctance to do things that needed doing, preferring to put them off till "tomorrow", so I have to mentally tell myself to not be lazy, and that works, for now. I did two tasks today, but that doesn't mean I can take tomorrow off..

My goal for 2025 is to live until 2026.

Unless you do something worthwhile during it, hardly seems worth the time.

Having more sex while you can would be a great objective.

It's a good topic, but requires some personal imput.

What if one's personal goal is to bonk a ladyboy, or shag a sheep? Hardly going to put that on here.

Clapton is the only artist I recognise on that album, and I never even liked much of his. I love Badge, but that was with Cream.

It seriously scary to remember when Badge came out and realise it was when I was just a young fella starting out.

I keep wishing when I go to sleep I'll wake up 50 years ago, but it never works.

IMHO the most important thing to do might include relaxing for a day or two. Sometimes a little rest is more important than anything else.

When I say I have to do a task, it's not onerous. My days of hard work are long gone. I'd say my entire life now is relaxing.

A task might be filing some papers- it's just something I'd rather put off, but needs to be done.

Tell me about ... I'm really turning into a LPOS.  Actually worked up a sweat, putting air in the tires yesterday, 10 of 'em  ...

... pedal bike

... ebike

... E scooter

... E car

WTF, That's just sad ... :cheesy:

Considering when I first got here, I'd cut 1/2+ rai with a weed whacker, before buying a mower.   Then 2nd house, 2 rai of mowing, weed whacking and chain saw cutting crap.

Not to mention, building a cinder block storage area, 15 X 3m, along with plumbing in various 2000 L water tanks & pumps, in ground, on second floor (gravity feed), buried lines, 9 tanks in a row, 2 in ground, 2 on raised / 2nd floor.

Cut a damn tree down that fell onto the 'garage' with a circular saw, pre-chain saw owning   :cheesy:

Now putting air in the tires, works up a sweat 🙄
