Just in time for Presidential Inauguration: Musk to Censor Twitter/X for Negativity.

It's not private censorship that's being decried. It's the hypocrisy. Especially given that the censorship being imposed is done against critics of the person who claims he bought Twitter to rescue it from such censorship.

Why dont you tell us what Musk said?

Musk's statement:

"Algorithm tweak coming soon to promote more informational/entertaining content. We will publish the changes to
@XEng
.

Our goal is to maximize unregretted user-seconds. Too much negativity is being pushed that technically grows user time, but not unregretted user time."

And we are to assume from this that everyone that makes negative statements about Trump will be banned. Got it.

What's the point of being King of the World if you cannot impose lese majeste laws and put other "nobility' under the same umbrella?

Monarchs like Musk and 47 are even more infallible than a Pontiff (kind of like the redundancy of the term "very unique"), so they cannot be accused of hypocrisy.

I believe that is secondary (by the way, I support Israel in its war against Hamas and Iran), but the main target are people who disagreed with Elon about H1Bs. Steve Bannon calls Elon a Chinese asset--or maybe assette.

This was previously.

It's not about what he said, it's about what he did and has been doing: censoring or downgrading his critics on X.

So you dont know what he is doing

What is Elon doing? Imagine if he goes ahead with his X payment system and you sign up for it and then post something he doesn't like. He'll cancel your check mark verification, refuse to allow you to contact X because you don't have a verified check mark, lock up your money, turn off the chip in your brain, and lock you in your Cybertruck until it explodes.

I wrote he's censoring or downgrading his critics. What is unclear about that?

And you provided a link with one person making unsubstantiated claim, typical.

X is not a government entity, or even a publicly traded corporation, it is a privately owned company, and "don't criticize the owner" may be one of the rules. Try talking smack about the people that own/operate this board and see how long you last here.  Or start praising Elon and talking smack about the left on Bluesky and see how long it takes to get banned.

You don't seem to care that the Biden Administration coerced public social media companied to ban there detractors. And you call Elon a hypocrite.

Most decent-minded people have already switched to Bluesky.

Lefty's that want an echo chamber have switched to the old Lefty run twitter style when you can censor the views you don't agree with,

Well, it's not likely he'll get a washed-up columnist to make up a story claiming she was raped forty years ago or charge you with 34 felonies for calling payment for a non-disclosure agreement a legal expense or sue you for half a billion dollars for overstating the value of your property. Only a corrupt government to do things like that.

You mean a lefty like Laura Loomer?

Laura Loomer Slams Elon Musk as Free Speech 'Hypocrite' Over X Censorship

Far-right activist Laura Loomer said Elon Musk is retaliating against her by suspending her X account, taking away her verification badge and demonetizing her subscriptions over their feud about foreign work visas.

"It's just pure retaliation at this point," Loomer told Newsweek in an interview on Thursday. "I've asked for multiple people to get back to me on this, and nobody's getting back to me."

Yes. Fascist cult of personality.

The U.S. is SUPPOSED to be about the government serving we the people.

The perverted maga movement is about everyone serving the one dear leader, Mr. Trump, and anyone opposed being marked as an enemy of the people.

Dangerous and disgusting.

Back with the 'everyone is a fascist' nonsense.

It may be one of the rules but if it is, it makes a hypocrite out of Musk.

How should I know that. You included my comment in your post. Unlike a lot of members here, I don't pretend to read the minds of other members.

He claims to be a proponent of free speech. He has never said speech on Twitter is free except when it comes to me.

Do you think people on X should be able to say anything they like?

On Twitter, Musk reserves that right for himself.

Quit deflecting, Do you think people on X should be able to say anything they like? or not?

It's a private site. So it has a right to regulate speech in any way it likes.
