At a presser Tuesday, 7 January, at Mar-a-Lago, the President-elect said he would not rule out military force to take Greenland and the Panama Canal.

Your hero, right, MAGAs?

Oh, and he threatened economic force to annex Canada, plus he wants to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico.

It's 1700 again; do you know where your Colonial Master is?

(Plenty of videos of his presser, for those who want to see their hero pretend he's a warrior.)

spoken like a true idiotic democrat.

look at the record of Biden, Obama.......take a look at how many US troops got killed in their wars.

then take a look at 16 - 20 and compare.............duh

Thanks for bringing this up. I also thought about asking all the Trump fans about that when I read the articles tonight.

What do you think about your president who supposedly is so peaceful and now he wants the Panama Canal and Greenland.

Trump refuses to rule out using military to take Panama Canal and Greenland | Donald Trump | The Guardian

To his fans: Is that what you want?

Do you think it's a good idea to make remarks like that in public?

Or do you think he doesn't really mean it and wouldn't do it?

Or, most unlikely, do you think that idiot should just shut up and concentrate on important issues within the USA?

I voted for Trump.  And I knew going in there would be times when I shake my head.  Still cetain I chose the better of two choices.

Not really sure what his end game on these comments is.  But, and there is always a but, his first term he did not instigate a single military action.  Until he actually DOES it I'll withhold judgement.

I have tried to figure what a military coup in the US would look like.

I imagine, an actual “deep state” might form on an ad hoc basis involving not only the military but elements of the courts, the intelligence community, some in the business community and media, some local and national politicians. The power exists to pull this off, but some pretty serious red lines would need to be crossed before such a thing would be considered (e.g., withdrawing from or undermining NATO).

However, if such were to simply replace Trump’s oligarchy with another monied class (even one that was not insane) rather than leading to genuine social democracy, setting such a precedent would be fraught.

How do you feel about if Kamala was voted, she would had her respect from every partner and Allie, while Trump being seen as a lunatic.

I do not believe any foreign nation had respect for Kamala.  Nor do I believe they respect Joe Biden.

And frankly it isn't that important to me.  What is important is that as President whoever we have makes smart decisions and stops trying to buy respect around the world.  The US is no longer flush with cash and needs to stop pissing away billions of dollars on places that hate us,

And it would also be better if nations that do not love the west (the west probably includes wherever you are from) are more afraid of our president than like him.  Sometimes a little crazy is a good thing.  Seems like it worked better ala N Korea and Iran.  Heck even Russia was better behaved when Trump was president.  Note before and after Trump Russia invaded Crimea Under Obama)  and then Ukraine (under Biden).  N Korea stopped missile testing during Trumps first 4 years.  And Iran backed insurgents attacked Israel via Gaza and Lebanon under Biden.  Hey, I don't know if Trump is WHY nothing happened then or if it will stop.  But I suspect there is a better chance  than the cackling DEI moron Kamala.

What I really like about Trump is that he knows how to get under the skin of the left wing socialists. He is a master of "The art of the deal." Of course any sane person, which includes very few of the left wing, knows that this is only posturing and part of the attempt to start a conversation on the subject of Greenland and the Canal. It only gets better from here and I am so looking forward to a total meltdown from the left wing wackos.

That's totally BS.

Nothing to do with Left or Right. And I guess there are a lot of "wackos" (please mind your words) on both sides.

For me Trump is a dangerous egomaniac and egocentric, who should be monitored by psychiatrists.

I'm anticipating something from Christian Right, with the man in the facepaint put out to pasture and the country in the hands of the guys who finance the justices, and the vp-to-be is their perfect invertebrate.   First order of business is to cancel 2028 election.

But not before the 2026 midterms.

Or maybe the maga proponents will enlighten us on this thread?

Sure.  He hasn't done anything yet.  Strategic ambiguity is what kept Putin out of Ukraine and Hamas out of Israel on his last watch.

He's negotiating from power.  Not weakness and indecisiveness.

It's funny how Biden (and Obama) got a pass for crap that actually did happen on their watch, while Trump keeps getting called out for crap that hasn't even happened yet.  And never will.

Have you seen his speeches lately, where he trows out the numbers of  billions and billions Usa use on Canada's safety, and Usa do not need their goods?

Honestly, what do you think of hid rhetoric? It is messages only for his own audience, simple Magas who do not even manage to understand the word bilateral.

And may I ask you, do you really believe his numbers or is it just to stirr up the pot make him look like he actually doing something.

He is all over the place, and far away from what he promised to do first! Stop the wars.

Dear oh dear ! Speaking as a Brit it seems to me many of you anti- Trumpers need to lighten up a bit.

The Panama canal is being gradually taken over by the Chinese which needs to be stopped, and some form of alliance/merger with Greenland makes a lot of sense in terms of US national security.

The reference to Canada was light-hearted, although a couple of Canadian friends have told me they would welcome a closer relationship with America.

Nothing to worry about in any of this. Your next President will take good care of you.

Relax, and have a nice day !

So you understand why Russia, China, and Iran also have to act to preserve their rights and freedom to?

They are not the only crazy evil basards on this planet who thinks they have the right to violate others borders, invade and kill innocent, use drones and missile to take out terrorists on land we not yet invaded, use economical pressure, blockades and dangerous rhetoric to make everyone understand what we are talking about.

From this I assume English is not your first language, in which case, a good effort on your part.

Try to reduce your anger level, relax. and have a nice day !

I'm not angry, just hard facts, and I can't help what you manage to read and understand as angry or not.

Nice try to use distraction as a tool, instead of discussing the factual meaning behind the post, and instead use a lame attempt to humiliate me because of my poor English. Yes, not native English spoken, but I understand Spanish, German, Portuguese, and some Thai. Worked in the oil business and managed to supervise in my field with coworkers from many countries in an American company. Not bad for someone with dyslexia

As I said, a good effort, especially now considering your dyslexia.

I too was in the oil business for most of my working life.

Anyway, we should all try to remember not to get angry over things we cannot control.

All the best. Bob.

Is this based on Trump's claim that Chinese soldiers are operating in the Canal Zone? If not please share what evidence you actually can point to.

I think the reality is that we have to acknowledge that he's a 13 year old in an old man's body, and he just says things impulsively without any forethought, wisdom, knowledge, study, research or sound judgment.

That's just who he is, he is a semi-insane, semi-senile man, and we just have to expect this kind of nonsense out of him.
