Village School in Ratchaburi

The school in our village caters for pupils between the ages of 5 and 15 or thereabouts.

After listening to moans about the children not getting a proper education I logged the school year for 2024.

And it doesn't look good. Unless this is par for the course.

 

Not counting Saturdays and Sundays , the children were in class a total of

168 and a half days out of 262 school days.
 

January days at school = 20

Start Tue Jan 2nd.

Monday the 15th school closed  ( Children’s day )

Tuesday, the 16th of January. school closed  ( Teachers day )

 

February days at school = 18 and a half 

Thursday 1st Feb. Half day.  ?

Friday 9th Feb  school closed ( Chinese New Year )

Monday 26th Feb. school closed  ( Makha Bucha day )

 

March days at school = 5 days

Tuesday 5th of March school closed ?

Wednesday 6th of March school closed ?

Thursday 7th of March school closed ?

Friday 8th March school closed ?

Thursday 14th March , no classes just games.

Friday 15th March , no classes just games.

Monday 18th March to the 31st March school closed.

 

No School in April = 0 Days

 

May days at school = 11 Days

Start Wed. May 15th

Wed. May 22nd. Closed ( Visakha Bucha day )

Thur . May 23rd. Closed ?

 

June days at school = 17 Days

Mon 3rd June Closed. ( Royal Birthday )

Wed 12th June -  learning how to dance and sing , half day

Thur 13th June -  paying homage to Teachers , half day

Fri 28th June -  Closed school to allow adult Inter Village football knock-out to be played on their pitch.

 

July days at school = 20 days

Fri. 19th July closed school for a Buddha ceremony. (Asalha Bucha )

Mon. 22nd closed for day in Lieu of Buddha Hol.

Mon 29th closed for King’s birthday

 

August days at school = 20 days

Mon 12th August - school closed , Mothers Day

Friday 16th - school closed ?

 

September days at school = 16 Days

Tuesday 3rd September - school closed ( games )

Wednesday 4th September - school closed ( games )

Thursday 5th September - school closed ( games )

Friday 6th September - school closed ( games )

Thur 26th September - school closed ( village electricity shut down )

 

October Days at school = 4 Days

Mon Oct 7th school closed for the rest of the month.

 

November days at school = 20 days

Friday 1st November, school started

Tuesday 26th November school closed , Teachers at a party night before. ( True )

 

December days at school = 17 days

Thur. Dec 5th school closed Father’s day 

Tue. Dec 10th school closed Constitution day.

Friday 27th Dec school closed till New Year.

Follow up to this.

Yesterday and this morning , some locals are trying to get the Head of the school removed.

The Police have arrived as things are getting heated.

The locals are worried that their kids are not learning and that the Head of the school is only there for a few hours a day .
Apparently he lives an hour or so away , he arrives late and leaves early .
