A fatal hit-and-run collision occurred early on 9 January, leaving one dead and another injured after an SUV collided with a motorcycle-sidecar carrying a couple delivering grass for cattle. The incident took place near a PTT petrol station in Ban Kham Pa Lai, Kham Pa Lai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Mukdahan Province.

CCTV footage from nearby shops captured the SUV striking the motorcycle and dragging it for over 50 metres. The victim, identified as Ms. Supan 64, from Pa Tio District, Yasothon Province, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, Mr. Patcharapol 65, sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital by emergency responders.

At the scene, police found debris from the SUV, including a broken left headlight, a fuel cap, and a fog light. Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash and saw the SUV, described as a six-seater family vehicle, speeding away towards Mukdahan City on Chayangkul Road.

Approximately an hour later, a tip-off from a resident led police to an abandoned SUV matching the description in Ban Don Muay, Bang Sai Yai Subdistrict. The vehicle, a navy-blue Toyota Yaris Cross registered in Chachoengsao Province, showed significant damage to its front and sides.

Inside the vehicle, police discovered documents belonging to the owner, a mobile phone, a shoulder bag, and drug paraphernalia. A small quantity of what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine was also found. However, the driver was not present at the scene.

Police have collected evidence from the vehicle and are conducting a thorough investigation to track down the driver and hold them accountable for the hit-and-run, as well as potential drug charges.

Fleeing the scene = mandatory manslaughter, time to get tough

A post a shortening a quote to change the meaning has been removed.

@OneManShow the article says “The vehicle, a navy-blue Toyota Yaris Cross”, a vehicle which Toyota themselves describe as a compact SUV.
