Dear Chinese Folks and Chinese Farang,

What would you say might be the best music for cleaning house in anticipation of the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year.

This year, Chinese Lunar New Year falls on January 29th, a Wednesday.

If you are like me, I simply dread the days leading up to Chinese New Year, since these days require that I clean my house, something which I do about once every 365 days.

There are just so many items that I know I need to get rid of.

Still, deciding what to discard, vs what to keep, is torture for me, since making so many decisions, at such a rapid pace, usually within a 24-hour period, is definitely taxing for somebody like me.

This year, I am thinking…..

If I were to find “just the right music”, some sort of house-cleaning music, then it might go easier this time.

What I need is something very PEPPY, but not too loud.

Music which is sexy, but not too distracting.

Definitely something invigorating, but not as stimulating as….a….

Headful of Snow.

Therefore, any suggestions?

The better suited the music, then the cleaner the house might become.

Of course, I have already thought of Jeff Beck’s Ronnie Scott’s performance.

But, I will not choose this music because I reserve this music for house moving, and not house cleaning.

Concerning Head-full of Snow, I am already too bored with old stuff like that.

I plan to work for two days on my housecleaning, 16 hours per day, with only a few short respites, randomly spaced, and will begin next week; there is no point in any further procrastination.

Chinese green tea will be good, too.

But, great and motivating music will be even more crucial if the job is to be done right.

House cleaning, these days, is almost impossible without the right music.

In the past, we had maids and slaves to do this work for us.

Now, we must rely on our own hands, and music to spur us on, until the work is done.

Thanks.

Really need some helpful suggestions.

Regards,

Gamma

Note:  Wishing you and yours a very auspicious Chinese Lunar New Year, and good health in this Year Of The SNAKE…….

Note4:  Not to put too fine a point on it...but.....this IS the year of the snake......the SNAKE.....

Forgot to add this image....headful of snow....

Just about this time of year, when the Sun's angle is lower, and the colors of daytime change as a result....

One misses the snow.....and the geese, too.

The geese flying south.

Another year gone by

Time to fill our red envelopes, and pass them to our next generation.

Time for enjoying Pearl Balls.....

So many great traditions, and many that young Chinese have unfortunately forgotten, these days.

But I will not forget, and I have not forgotten.

And cleaning house is one of these traditions that no good Chinese person ever lets slip.

In my next life, according to Thai belief, I will return to Earth as a Chinese...and then.....

All will be right with my world.

Go with the Village People's entire discography. Loop it in fact by setting it to permanently repeat. You will not regret it. Start now!

In fact, 1979 was the year that I moved to Asia....for good....and...FOR GOOD!

I joined the Asian Navy in 1979.

Best decision I ever made.

And I have never looked back.

Asia just got better and better.....

While America became ever more decadent, and irrelevant.

In 1969, America was still rather great.

But, by 1979, there had been a total paradigm shift in American culture.

Golden Dreams were gone....

Came here.

Never left.

Almost 53 years, now, in toto....

Africa

1982

Reminds me of, not Africa, but Asia.

Asia is....

GREAT

GREAT

GREAT

Never going home......

As long as I can clean my house, with my own hands....

Once per year.

You keep commenting on American culture and how it is now and you left America decades ago, which means you really don't know what's going on there besides (what many use as information) a few videos people put up. For the topic, it might be better, seeing you rarely leave the house anyway, to clean weekly, a little bit at a time, so it doesn't get out of control. People who need maids and slaves are lazy. You make a mess, you clean it, something parents should teach all children. And an American cannot join the Asian Navy so I don't get that statement.

Just part of Chinese tradition that we Chinese must do a TOTAL clean of the house, or business, just prior to the Chinese Lunar New Year.

There is no help for it, really.

Because....this is just TRADITION.....

Anywhere you go in the world....

We Chinese will be cleaning our homes and businesses....

Just before the New Year.

The house gets turned upside down, just to clean it...

Even if it might not need it.

It's....

TRADITION

This is what God expects us to do.

Deep down....I always have been.

Either a Jew, or a Chinese.

I grew up in a Jewish neighborhood, one which I would gladly return to, if I could.

Did you ever wonder why Chinese restaurants depend upon the Jewish community to keep them afloat during Christmas Eve?

SOLIDARITY!

Anyway, I have never been, in spirit, part of the typical 1950s nuclear family......such as this one....

Still, great music for doing a thorough housecleaning.

Two Kids and a Dog.

Somehow, I doubt that this might be what Achilles Last Stand is all about.

Those family values are long gone, even if they ever actually existed.....WHICH they DID....at one time, to some extent....

In the 1950s and very early 1960s....a very weird time.

Just like my family, back then.

… clean your house ‘coz there’s F all else to do’?

You might do well by sitting down, in a quiet place,  and reading this:

one word but it takes the same amount of time and effort

I prefer Led Zeppelin, their first few albums. It's loud, not for everyone. But it gets me moving and gets the job done.

Happy New Year!
