Thank you, Sheryl! That’s really helpful. I’ll definitely discuss with my dr. whether switching to a different statin or another generic rosuvastatin. At Fascino, Vivacor was actually the cheapest of the 3 or 4 options they had, but I’ll check around elsewhere.

Also, I generally prefer to stick to meds that are registered with the Thai FDA (it doesn’t necessarily mean “locally made,” just that they are localluy registered).

Really appreciate your guidance!

All of the brands I listed are registered with the Thai FDA

It is not recommended to split medications 3X or more. Even 2X  has a risk, albeit much lower.

Dividing pills  assumes that there is a consistent spread of the dose in the pill.  Unfortunately, the manufacturing process of a pill does not guarantee that the dose will be consistent through the entire pill. It could be more concentrated  in one part of the pill.  This matters if there is a need to maintain a set  amount of medication because of the drug's pharmacokinetics.  Statins can come in increments of 5. Because Tadalafil can be used to treat specific illnesses, an accurate dose may be more important than if it is to treat  ED.  It's not a critical issue for most people, but I do mention it as a caution.

You can buy a cheap plastic machine that helps to divide the pill accurately. I used to use one when I was on statins and I could buy 20mg for just a few baht more than 10mg. I wouldn't fancy cutting a pill in quarters tho'

Be careful out there.

Rosuvastatin is not Tadalafil (Cialis).

Rosuvastatin is for cholesterol reduction - as per the name, it is a statin.

High blood pressure (Hypertension) and poor circulation can create the need for Cialis/Viagra medication. If you take a statin, it works very differently.

But Statins can cause bad muscle pain in some people.

People should be very cautious about taking medications after advice from well-meaning people, but it is a significant risk.

People with hypotension (low blood pressure) or positionally caused problems when standing up (orthostatic hypotension) can be badly affected by Cialis and Viagra-like medications, just as statins can cause problems.

Russian Roulette (apology to the Russki's) is mixing different medications on top of a health condition.

I am a retired health professional, but I advise readers to get a medical opinion - even if you have had previous experience of medication but have not had a health check recently - we change as we age.

Stay safe.

I agree - always better to take medications under medical supervision.

I would also avoid taking any medications that aren’t locally registered to reduce potential quality issues and the risks of counterfeit drugs.

At this price it is a copy. But, from what you tell us, it seems to be a good copy.

Doubt you can get original Cialis 20mg for less than  THB 2000. Bangkok Drugstore, a dependable outlet sells Talafil for 1500, Cialis usually costs twice that.

This is not original Cialis, the hologram seal is missing on the package.

Fake Cialis(generic Tadalafil) Should be around 350 baht or less for four 20mg.  That's the cost online. You pay extra for the fake packaging.

Larger quantities will bring a lower unit cost.

Dependable? Depending on whether you like to pay over the top for generics.

Hi everyone,

I’m currently prescribed two medication:

- Tadalafil 5 mg (Talafil by Millimed): 2,316 THB for 30 pills
- Rosuvastatin 10 mg (Vivacor): 888 THB for 28 pills

I live in Samut Prakan and was wondering if anyone can recommend alternative (possibly cheaper) brands or pharmacies - either online or in-store - especially for Tadalafil.

Also, does anyone know if these specific medications are covered under Thailand’s Social Security system (SSO)?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

I looked at U.K. prices. 750 baht equivalent for 28 Tadalafil 5 mg tablets. Nice mark up they have in Thailand.

Dependable yes, as in selling drugs that are what they are supposed to be. Rock bottom price is a health hazard. I wouldn't trust any ED drugs bought near RLDs, neither in the street nor in Pharmacies.

Bangkok Drugstore have never let me down, and there are many here who could confirm.

I get the 5 mg Talafil daily for BPH with the nice side effects.

Just tried a different BPH medicine for about 3 days, experienced side effect of retrograde ejaculation (one of the possible side-effects my MD warned me about) in the first week.

No thanks, going back to Talafil.

But I always get the Talafil at the hospital where my doctor prescribes them.

Can I ask for my prescription and shop for the best price, or do I have to fill the Rx at the hospital where I got it?

Thanks for any knowledgable replies.

Rubbish. The products to which I refer are permitted for use in the EU. https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/medicines/human/EPAR/tadalafil-mylan

Now run a search for your overpriced Talafil brand. See if you can even find it.

Another one who thinks throwing money at everything gets a better result.

That’s an interesting observation, but price differences between countries often come down to local market conditions, taxes, and regulations.

As others have pointed out, there are lower-cost generic options available, including some that aren’t Thai FDA-registered. However, I personally prefer sticking to registered medications approved to minimize potential risks.

Again, the products I priced up are permitted for use in the EU. I cannot find any reference to Talafil at all. Can you help me find it?

A lot of assumptions made here, but no one can provide any proof nor substance to their claims.

Prosp Pharma? Who are they?

I'm referring to CIPLA, MYLAN and the like. Reputable manufacturers, as opposed to a local distributor filling their boots reselling generics.

Millimed, it's not a distributor. Reputable Thai pharma manufacturer.

Talafil is their generic Cialis version registered under Thai FDA.

Never mind

I understand that Millimed is the manufacturer and Prosp Pharma is the distributor. I mentioned reputable manufacturers whose products are licenced for sale in the EU.

Either way, the products are overpriced for simple generics. If you are happy to pay more for a local manufacturer, that's up to you.

I neglected to mention the online price in Europe/U.K. for 28 genuine Cialis 5mg: 2835 baht equivalent.  That's 500 baht more than your generic cost.

If you aren't getting the point by now, then I don't know what else to tell you.
