Family to Retirement

My current 1 year extension based of family expires on February 5. Using an agent, is it expensive to convert it to an extension based on retirement?

Why change. 

An agent may suggest exit Thailand to kill off Non O and reenter visa exempt.

For agent to obtain new non O + 12 month extension retirement is approx 23k.

Ongoing extensions 13-18k depending on location.

I'm in Pattaya. I was thinking it might be cheaper to convert to retirement than renew the family visa.

Financials for extensions based on marriage is low threshold.

400k for 2 months prior to application.

If time is required to season the funds you could apply for 60 day extension to visit wife.

 

If you really want to use agent at least living in Pattaya you have choice of many good agents.

Often mentioned is Maneerat Soi 13/2.

Best option is to discuss directly with them..

You have Non O status and they will advise you if they can obtain 12 month extension based on retirement OR as mentioned in first post require you to start afresh.

Edit: @justsignedin Maneerat just informed me that you do not need to exit Thailand.

I'm surprised. You can discuss with any agent directly

Thanks once again @DrJack54 I called in this afternoon. They said no problem converting family to retirement, 12,500 baht, can do up to 7 days before, they keep your passport for 3 days.

Good news. As stated I'm surprised however since you visited in person I take that as confirmation.
