Why Some Brits Envy America’s Donald Trump

I always thought you lads would do well to turn Buckingham Palace and the royals into an elite B&B attraction. Could pull 1/2 a billion a year in income.

"The British Royal Household released its annual financial statement on Thursday, revealing that official spending for the year 2022-2023 exceeded the Sovereign Grant and other royal earned income."

I also found this interesting:

"In total, the Royal Household’s net expenditure was reported to be £107.5 million ($136 million), compared to the total Sovereign Grant of £86.3 million ($109.1 million) and the additional income of £9.8 million ($12.4 million)."

especially compared to the presidential salary of $400k per year.

Imagine a world where Briton is a US colony paying for "Taxation w/o Representation":stoner:😁

Utter nonsense.

Had your wife come into the UK legally, she would have been entitled to nothing for 5 years. She would have had to pay a premium fee charge to access the NHS that you have no choice to pay. She would be entitled no public resources, eg sick pay, no access to job seekers allowance, etc. So let's not talk rubbish.

Had your wife claimed Asylum do you think they would just accept any application as truth? She would be waiting for years to get a decision. During that time she would not be allowed to work, so her only choice would be to work illegally - and if caught she would be refused any application she made. And IF she desperate did need accomodation and couldn't afford she be housed in a crappy little room for years, waiting for her decision with barely anything to live on. That's not some alluring lifestyle despite what the media tell you.

But if your wife is from Thailand, and married to you the likelyhood of her claiming asylum is next to zero.

Ironically working in the US illegally is far easier as most states actively encourage it to keep costs down. Trust me on that, pretty much everyone working in states like Vegas did the background work no one else wants to do are there illegally.

So stop reading the daily mail and listening to Farage and do your own research.

Well apparently according to your Government you're wrong.

Asylum seekers entitled to free housing, healthcare and a monetary payment, loaded onto a cashcard every week.

And if reading from many of your fellow countrymen, not so generous when bringing in a Thai spouse, although thank God you can put her out to work to pay for that NHS surcharge!

I think Trump tapped in to a common thread across many Western countries. Do it right, and it costs you more.

And btw, who or what is the daily mail?

If you come to the UK and you claim asylum, you are accomodated if they feel your case meets merit (ie not taking the pee). This also happens in many European countries, Canada too that sign up the human rights bull. This is not luxury accomodation despite what the media say. They are small little rooms, sometimes in crappy hotels.

The UK has universal free healthcare (along with most of Europe), so asylum seekers will get health care. The only people ironically who don't get free healthcare are immigrants who come here legally - they have to pay a surcharge one of fee before they get a visa, to allow them to use the NHS.

Also immigration, undocumented was on course to go higher than Obama before the pandemic hit. He literally did nothing to stop it. The wall was never built, other than tiny little areas. It's all performative.

America needs and wants immigration.
