A fatal crash involving a pickup truck carrying migrant workers left two dead and five injured in Thong Pha Phum district, Kanchanaburi, during the early morning of January 22nd. The driver, who fled the scene, was later apprehended at a hospital after providing suspicious statements.

Emergency responders from the Thong Pha Phum Rescue Foundation received reports of the incident at approximately 04:15. They rushed to the scene, located near the Phatad Waterfall in Hin Dat sub-district, along with police officers from Thong Pha Phum Police Station.

The white Toyota Revo pickup truck, registered in Bangkok, had crashed into a roadside tree, leaving its front severely damaged. Inside the vehicle, rescuers found two deceased individuals, a man and a woman, seated in the back of the cab. Their identification cards revealed they were Myanmar nationals. Four other injured passengers had already been transported to a nearby hospital by local residents.

Authorities suspect the driver was speeding, as the crash occurred on a sharp curve where their vehicle appeared to have lost control before slamming into the tree.

At around 03:30, prior to the official discovery of the crash, a severely injured man arrived at a local hospital seeking medical assistance. He claimed his injuries were the result of falling at his home. However, hospital staff grew suspicious of his story and alerted the police.

Investigators now believe the man, who remains unnamed, is the driver of the crashed truck and have arrested him. Authorities are also looking into whether the vehicle was part of a network involved in the illegal transport of migrant workers.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash and any potential connections to human trafficking operations.

More than likely... crashed due to speed, legged it to hospital leaving the carnage behind... or so he thought.
