If correct   :

The strangest people I have ever met.

Cannot arrange anything or confirm anything.

I agree. That's why I normally refrain from trying to help or advise them. Normally it's hard to tell what they are really thinking or even if what they are telling you is the truth. Maybe what they are saying is also just for conservation purposes, especially when you don't know them closely. So I avoid it all completely unless it seems like a real emergency.

Had to move the GF on (she had family issues) so the wife and I agreed the replacement would be labour hire.

Many girls interviewed over line (took 3 hrs) we found a lady that is perfect for the position.

Lady starts her first shift at 9pm !

When you are paying them for a service, usually you get about 80% of what you were expecting. Not so bad. Otherwise, forghettaboutit.

She doesn't want the job being offered. So she is delaying instead of rejecting your kindness and causing you to lose face.

2 months from now she would have another excuse why she's not ready or she will say she found another job already. Forget it, cut your loses and move on.

Yep, it's the first thing that came to my mind: something bothered her during the process and she doesn't want the job anymore. OP, this is normal Thai behaviour, it's more about massive culture differences than IQ.

If you're not willing/able to navigate the cultural differences, then yes, probably the best option.

When i first read the headline of this Topic, I thought it read:

"I spent two hours being a girl to get a new job."

My headline is better, I think.

Any opinions?

It might be that she didn´t think you would find a work she can start next day. Ever thought about that?

Doesn´t sound so dumb now, does it?

well,  possibly ....  but she shouldn't have even mentioned the 2 months notice period to me at the end as that's  standard contract req ...

anyway,   it's sorted now and she can discuss with the new ....  I've done my bit   !!

Sounds like she was soliciting you in a subtle way.

I know a guy hangs around Bkk and makes a move on just about any young female that he crosses paths with.  He invites them on dates, and he considers them girlfriends that he is dating.  If I listen long enough he'll get to the part about how her mother needs an operation she can't afford, sick buffalo at home, etc.

Well did you ask her enough questions, did you qualify her sufficiently, and if so what were your expectations? Do you want a Nobel Peace Prize, do you want to be given sainthood?

I mean we all make an effort to help people, some of it is of use to people and some of it goes right out the window. It's just the nature of life

I would question why you are so frustrated?

stop hanging out with the low class, low educated and you'll be amazed at how amazing thais and thailand can be.

I ran seasonal businesses in Canada for 50 years...food service and retail...hiring hundreds of young people over the years.

Minimum wage job often a first job...

I have also hired people in Thailand and other countries....people are people...the differences in my experience not that great...some hopeless some marvelous and the majority in between.

I have often helped newly graduated students find jobs and it is surprising how many, when they see their dream job, say something like, "I really want that job, but I want to travel to USA first. Do you think they will allow that?"

My answer "NO!"

You can take the girl out of the bar, but you can't take the bar out of the girl.

She's got scheduling conflicts.

Your mistake. Why didn't you ask first when she would be available for the new job? Always ask first to avoid unnecessary monkey business... just a free tip from a former HR manager.
