Ukrainian volunteers renovate Pra Buddha Dīpankara pagoda

Featured Replies

How to start this year? A group of Ukrainian people decided to start this year by volunteering. Most of them have lived on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand for a long time and they wanted to thank this place for sheltering them The idea belongs to one of the guys - Oleksandr who attracted a couple of guys, one of whom is me, who also came several times to help him. His idea was to contribute to this island and he initiated the renovation of the Pra Buddha Dīpankara pagoda on the top of the island(with the permission of the chief monk). For the last month for Oleks, almost every morning began with a 40-minute drive up the broken road and washing each floor to the very tip of the spire.
After 3 weeks we finished washing the pagoda and began priming the surfaces for future painting. I will show the results of the painting, hopefully, at the end of February.
Now photos of how it looked before began and how we did it.
After COVID this place
has become abandoned and lives mostly on donations from tourist excursions to this mountain.
