Start a fight inside the pharmacy. Sounds like a great idea. At least the Brit guy supposedly said he would take it outside. Two grown men fighting, wrestling, grappling inside a pharmacy, smashing display cases, and causing all kinds of damage. Innocent bystanders could be hurt. When the police watch the security video they will see that you laid your hands on him first. You are to blame. But, the police will understand when you explain that the Brit tried to make you say 'please', and threaten to take you outside. Good excuse to get in a fight and smash up somebody's store. Brilliant.

"Two grown men fighting,"?? There would not have been a fight, just two hits, my fist hitting his face then him hitting the ground.

Typical Typewriter warrior.

Even I have background, experience and training, I would never threatening anyone online or irl, because you have no information about who you ctually dealing with, and most likely, you just pick someone you for sure think you can beat. As every cowards do

With your approach, Im sure you already had your share of beating, if not, just empty words

The title contains a deleted expletive. If that's the way you usually refer to Brits - expect a beating before too long.

it was bell end by the way. Apparently it's naughty when you write it as one word.

And it is not the way I refer to brits. it is how I referred to this brit, after the fact.

Just curious:

What is the deleted word in the headline of this Topic?

Were you trying to say: Some British brute?

Or, did you mean: Some Brutish british?

Or, what, exactly?

This forum generally thinks that you were in the wrong on this issue .

You were being rude and abusive to a woman and the Brit guy taught you some manners

That word is not allowed to be used on these forums .

I see that you have problems with following rules .

Ah Nick, it would seem you have appointed yourself judge, jury, and executioner speaking for the AN masses.

Lets me know what type of fellow you are.

How do you bear the responsibility?

As for teaching me anything, he swallowed his threat and buggered off when challenged.

I admit that I have presented the interaction poorly, but that doesn't alter the fact that you seem to condone threatening others with violence in public places.

I think there's more to it than that....  here's why...

Forum Pile On - the Op tells a story and it seems to be the temperament of this forum to attack the 'story teller'... nearly always... 'should've done something else, should've spoken Thai, should've... should've... etc... ....

This just seems like a fairly normal sitation of a misunderstanding that became slightly strained and some other pi!!ok nearby felt Thai'er than the Thai's, got offended on behalf of the Thai, wanted to take the issue further - he was the aggressor.

I've seen guys like this.. they've usually not been here a long time, tend to think Thai's never argue or swear, tend to think Thai's are polite 100% of the time and never have understanding that in reality, Thai's are just human beings and people and no different than we 'Westerners' are....

I don't think this was the Ops fault, he 'perhaps' could have make more effort to conduct his 'tone' in a softer manner more befitting of kinder communication, but thats about it (other than learning Thai) - whereas the other guy was clearly spoiling for physical aggression....

Unless the op was telling the shop assistant something offensive... i.e. Eff Off, go eff yourself, you idiot etc etc....  then it seems all he was doing was 'making emphasis' on the size of the item he wanted becasuse the shop assistant was not listening....  no biggie, they got there in the end....
.... its also clear that the Shop assistant took no offence and even asked the Op if he knew the 'other guy' who was behaving like t!t... *or the end of a bell....

... So no - I don't think the 'Op was the issue'... the other guy WAS the issue....   BUT, the Op could learn from this and try and communicate in a softer manner in future...

The other guy.. 100% 'end... of bell'....

Altering words to get around deleted words isn't usually allowed

I think it's a fair assessment. I have been in Thailand for 20ish years since my late 20s, and I figure I can manage.  I could have been less distracted and not had one earbud in as I attempted to make a quick transaction, but buddy was uncalled for and his threat was surreal.

I was so surprised I decided to do something I never do -- start a thread.

Its thats the way you speak to people in real life , then its no surprise that people want to inflict violence upon you

I think if I started a thread about ordering a coffee and complained that I got a Macchiato instead of an Espresso the replies would be something along the lines of...

1) If you don't like it go home

2) learn Thai

3) its your own fault for not making your own coffee

4) life must be boring if you have to start a thread about this

5) Go to a different coffee shop

6) why are you always starting problems

7) you may have been dressed poorly

8) your accent was too strong

People just love a pile on !!!

Its highly likely and even almost a certainty that the O.P is under exaggerating his actions , he isn't telling the full story .

We would need to hear the other persons version of events or even see video footage of what really happened .

But I doubt very much whether the O.P's version if events are an accurate description of what really happened .

I do expect that the O.P was being rather abrupt, rude and abusive and shouting at the woman , and the Brit stepped in to defend the woman

And you think that its adult bavour to use those kinds of words and to change the spelling so that you can use those words without falling foul of the rules .

That immature behaviour IMO and also shows a complete disregard for the rules

You are exaggerating again, just like you underexegarated in the O.P.

I wasn't "offended" at all, let alone being "Offended to my very core" , I simply just pointed something out .

You do seem to have an a habit of over/under exaggerating situations

Is it highlight likely ???....  Is not just just as likely that he wrote of a very odd event that involved another foreigner who was a remarkable nobster ???....

Video footage  ???  - I think you may have gone a little too far down this rabbit hole, Nick....

Possibly, there are always three sides.....   But, regardless, the other guy was offering to fight the Ops - escalation to violence...  Some guys are just remarkably unhinged, and given the Ops comments in this thread, he does not appear to be 'a type of unhinged angry character'...

Yep, I think it was probably this...     If we are honest with ourselves I think we can all be a little short sometimes, usually due to patience being tested being driven by the other person not paying attention...

I recall a few times ordering a bottle of Gin at 7-11....  I know Gin isn't common, so some staff don't know what it is...

.... So, I'll order Gin, Green Bottle (my Thai is good enough for that)... Firstly I'll get the 'eyes don't believe the ears' as the staff doesn't register I'm speaking Thai...   So then I'll have to tell them I'm speaking Thai, then point them to the bottles, then say the Green one, as they keep trying to get any other colour than green...  and I keep saying, no, right some more, green bottle, no, right some more, green bottle etc etc... until another 'exasperated member of staff' steps in a gets exactly what I asked for.....      I can see how 'some' wanna-be hero may see my exasperation and decided I've offended the whole of Thailand as my don't deteriorated from 'nice and friendly' to 'exasperated'....

Meanwhile at other times, I order... one simple sentence and get exactly what I want...

We're not all perfect...   and for those of us capable of being honest with ourselves sometimes our tone belies our underlying frustration or exasperation - thats perfectly human IMO and not cause for some tool to step in and want to get violent - thats on him being an ayhole and not anything else.

I don't think you can justly evaluate yourself as the measure of maturity on this issue...     its just a word...   take a 'growacet' tablet or something to manup and get over it...

And I thought it was completely made up as a feeble excuse to justify a blatant Anti-British thread.

Possible, but it wasn't started by Malcy or GottFrid...  or some of the other known unhinged Brit-Bashers...

Though - in this case, I can easily see how a 'roided up Brit to$$er' might behave like this.....

... and now someone's going to complain because I changed a word with the use of $$....  :whistling:
