Perhaps he is hiding out not wanting to return home to face his real life

yeah, just watched a law & crime episode a while back.

the guy actually faked his disappearance to leave his family for a woman abroad.

Guy goes on holiday to Thailand with out his wife and kid. that says a lot.

Yes, his fine, will be with some bar lady for sure.

"he left for a night out on January 20. His partner, 38 year old Katie Maybin says he missed his son’s seventh birthday the next day—an unusual and worrying sign."

While his 7 year old has his birthday party.

Everybody is just assuming he got involved with some girl, but that would not explain him totally disappearing and completely losing contact with his family. It is more likely something far more sinister and far more serious took place. People disappearing is never a good thing, but when they aren't heard from for quite some time afterwards, that's a sign that something serious is going on or something serious has already taken place. Neither of which is a what any family wants to hear about their loved ones.

He shouldn't go to Thailand alone while his 7 year old has his birthday party to start with.

Yes, hopefully he’s just gone AWAL after discovering the delights of the LOS , as we all have in our younger days, when his money runs out , he’ll surface ,

cheers SS .

Check out credit card use?
If he did go off on a binge and he took another hotel room you can be sure the hotel isn't going to let so many days pass without getting payment.

A short period of 'being missing' could be down to having everything robbed. Phone, wallet, cards, cash, passport. All of it. With no id, phone or likely memory of any phone numbers he could be struggling right now to make contact with people.

Then he would need to make phone calls, speak to the Embassy and hope they're in the building that week, etc.

I think we need some context here and until he is found one way or another the leftys should stop assuming the worst and I will keep my optimistic posts going - fair deal?

I'm sure that his son and partner back in the UK would feel much better if they read your 'optimistic' posts - especially the ones that suggest he's indulging in the P4P side of Bangkok. Well done, you should be proud.

Do you have any idea how stupid you appear - making such arrogant statements? Probably as poor as a church mouse.

Hey Champ, do you need a tissue to dry your eye ?

So. what about it?  Did it report that the family were penniless?

Correct. Mom & dad could be funding this married man with a 7yr old child to go on a holiday to Thailand, leaving his wife & kid behind in Essex in January.

With the cost of a one way flight to the UK being around £5-600 with a decent airline, I can't see him intentionally missing a flight.

I could, that's maybe 5 weeks CMS deductions. Nothing in the UK.

Checked the internet and can't see any updates on the guy, that's hopefully a good sign any general misadventure someone would probably have located him by now, he obviously isn't on AN as he would be aware of the reaction he has got in the community and is hopefully having a good laugh sitting sipping cocktails in one of the resorts!

A British dad has vanished in Thailand after failing to board his flight home—sparking fears from his distraught family.

Probably wat's happened before he met the  lady of his life and missed the flight back home. Im sure there's no drama involved except for the "bad" air''.

You mean, other than the fact that he didn't call his son on his Birthday, has not communicated in a couple of weeks... has had his phone turned of and is not responding to any messages (which clearly show great convern)...

....sure just bad air... :whistling:

I think if he was just hooked up with some bird he could quite easily claim he was too sick to fly back.  I find it unlikely it's just some girl he's got involved with as most of the people commenting on here think.  I doubt he would want to worry his family sick and turn his phone off for 10 days and not call on his son's birthday.  Fairly easy to make an excuse not to come back for a bit.

His family have posted online (on their Missing Persons FB page in their home town) that Mr Sangwine has struggled with poor mental health recently and his mother paid for his ticket to go and visit his friend.  Let's hope he's just having some down time and chilling.

Thanks @Goinghomesoon I don't know him personally but sounds like he had problems before he ever touched down in Bangkok.

The RTP will probably be looking to recoup their losses and I doubt his visa renewal will go as smooth as it generally would.

I feel 100% better today there has been no negative findings about him like the doomsday people were saying yesterday.

I know myself and many people on the thread did a lot of bantering about him yesterday in a positive way.

Obviously no final conclusion to the story yet but if all is good and he just has had some kind of breakdown there are a few posters on this thread should have their tail between their legs and need to say you were correct PomPolo 🤣

Unemployed and going on holiday to Thailand,

Could you please direct me to where it says he is unemployed?

The Thaiger article doesn't mention it, nor the article above, (as far as I can see).

Or, do you know him personally?
