Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
For now nothing has changed, they must be taking a massive hit on remittances All those people who sent tens of millions last year likely sent nothing this year. I'm referring to the January 1st depositors who took full advantage of the previous year earnings rule. They have a full months data for January and I'll bet the difference between every year before now and 2025 is absolutely massive. -

And he is trying to end the war. Where did he say “I promise the war will be over on day one”? He didn’t. In any event, he’s batting 900 as far as I’m concerned. -

Why China will prevail over the US in this crazy world of Trump 2.0
This is what many thought while struggling through the Great Depression. My mother never got over it, but my Dad did. Although conservative he was a very positive person. I've learned from him and have endured through some tough times and ugly divorces. Today, I have a comfortable lifestyle with my girlfriend who frequently comments about our good relationship. -

Security Guard Accused of Sexual Assault at a Bangkok School
Picture courtesy of KhaoSod A 21-year-old security guard at a Don Mueang school in Bangkok has been accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old student in the school's bathroom. The incident, which happened on February 4, was allegedly dismissed by the school's director, who reportedly offered the victim's family 5,000 baht to keep quiet. The incident came to light on February 13 when concerned parents, frustrated with the school's lack of response, reached out to the Pavena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women. The worried parents, desperate for justice and concerned about their children’s safety, shared their grievances with Pavena Hongsakul, the foundation's leader. They are urging a thorough investigation into the director’s alleged negligence and are calling for legal action against the accused guard. Pavena highlighted the seriousness of the situation and announced plans to work with city officials Thosak Chotimongkol and Wantanee Watthana to ensure a comprehensive investigation is conducted. She emphasized the importance of addressing such incidents, which often affect vulnerable young people, to ensure the safety and well-being of students, reported The Thaiger. -- 2025-02-14 -

How to send an Alzheimer's patient back to the U.K.? - From Bangkok
He's 83 years old. Lives alone. He has no relatives except for a niece 600KM from Heathrow. He's got Alzheimer's pretty bad and obviously deteriorating every day. He's got 3 or 4 friends they want to send him back to U.K. on a plane. Alone. I spoke up and said "someone has to escort him back to the U.K. Period. As far as I know they're all similar age retirees, they say they're too busy but it really looks to me like nobody wants to step up. I don't know the guy but I said I'd do it but they said no. They're trying to arrange everything for his solo flight to U.K. but I'm thinking someone needs to escort him back. Maybe I'm wrong?
