Starbucks is 185 for a venti.   what's your point?   if you can't afford 80 baht for a coffee then you really are in dire straits.   regards, Elvis from Tupelo.

Well said.  80 baht for a decent cup of coffee is a great price.  I sometimes wonder if people think they're living in a 3rd world country!

Then they're stale before you grind them.

one small cup of instant coffee

Do cafes really provide instant coffee?  As in, they add powder to hot water?

I thought most places had at least a small coffee machine.

They put the instant in machine.

Thanks ... as that crossed my mind as I was making my coffee this morning.   Remembering how bad the coffee was at StarCrap, the one and only time I sampled.   Although that was 25+ yrs ago, I've not read anyone say anything good about their coffee from the outlets.

It must be the way the outlets make it, as the beans themselves get decent reviews when comparison reviews are done on YT.  @ 16 mins of this vid ...

Definitely agree with Dunkin's coffee, as use to be a favorite of mine at Udon Thani, and the gal always brewed a fresh pot for me.  😉   Although I prefer a darker roast of late.

Don't Yank bash, I'm sure 'yours' is probably better 🙄

IMO the problem with Starsucks is the bean to water ratio.

It tastes like they use three or four beans to make  300 mL of coffee, on the basis the customer is getting plenty of coffee, even if it is tasteless.

many hotels do the same

So, yesterday I arrived at tuk com too early so walked over Soi Bukhao for a breakfast. Something I never do, usually I have morning beers. I don't look at prices. Any how one small cup of instant coffee was 80 baht. I don't understand the business sense.  Why would you do that?

Because many like you are looking for the next booze in the morning. Who would care about coffee?

So you have discovered the secrets too Elvis?

Once you understand that women will find you irresistible after observing a few simple things, you might have to fight the ladies off.  Simply explore the ladies personal, and unique, biorhythms. Similar to biomechanics. Once you have the knowledge; you are king. And not just for a day. Even as a 70 year old, one can have 25 year olds mentally ravaging you.

Of course there are other subtle aspects to interaction. but understanding biorythmn is key to unlocking desires.

Professor Pigeon spent 40 years researching women; their biorhythms and their secret desires.

Carry yer own 3 in 1 in yer top pocket. Ask for a cup of hot water. Sit down and mix it yourself. Easy peasy lemon queezy.

Don't have to throw yer money away.

We are talking about coffee, not small traces coffee in a mix of chemicals.

Correct. I seldom go to Starbucks, only if there is no other option. I always tell them to use only 50% of the water quantity in my Americano. With this method the taste is quite ok.

I need a coffee fix. But i'll not be wasting any more than 10 baht on a cup.

Most farang couldn't tell the difference between a 10 and a 150 baht cup of coffee.

Doooh, I meant the phrase is lemon SQUEEZY, not Queezy as you put.

But same as with vino. Bht 1000 a bottle or Bht 10,000, tastes the same and gets you pissed.

Bang on the money there Sir.

As for wine. I prefer to make my own. Only takes a few hours. Mine taste good, will blow yer head off and cost no more than 70 baht a litre.

And it's medicinal.

I do the same, using Nuboon juices. After the juice arrives, it is in my fermenter within 5 minutes.

I was using grape juice, but tried their Apple juice, 2 litres plus 6 of water, Lalvin 8111 yeast, no extra sugar. Shows 10% on my hydrometer and down to SG 000 in a week, drinkable after another 2 weeks.

That is fantastic bro.

I actually like fruit, root and fungus mixed wine. I select the ingredients mostly on availability. When the mango is on the tree, I use mango,, etc.

I made 20 litres for a Buddha rave a few years ago. There was beautiful carnage, Ladies rolling about on the floor. Guys falling into the pond. They loved it.

My best coffee place is in Huay Sak, on the road to Thoeng. 35 baht for a really good coffee.

80 baht for instant coffee is BS.

Was the OP dressed like a tourist?

Which shop? I know the area and plan to drive through there at the end of this month.

They are paid 3rd world wages so you'd expect the coffee prices to reflect that, i usually pay 40-60 baht for americano or latte

Main road, think it is called Bang Talay. Always has one or two cats snoozing on the chairs.

It has a building next to it which houses a scuba club, of all things.

Coming from Chiang Rai on the 1020? to Thoeng, it is about 200 metres on the RHS just before the crest, which then descends to a set of traffic lights, with a day market on the left at the intersection.

I roast enough for the day.

2 hours ago, scubascuba3 said:

I only drink coffee made from roasted beans. When roasting I usually do enough for a week or so. Directly after roasting the beans need a few days  to release gases. Normally ever roaster will sell the beans a few days after roasting.

I think I know the place.  Haven't been there since nearly 10 years ago.   I remember a farm fertilizer shop behind.  And the lady who runs the shop is into scuba diving - so I'm not surprised if she opened a scuba shop.  I'll stop by on my way.  Thanks for the rec!
