The share of Republicans who say they want tech billionaire Elon Musk to have significant influence in the Trump administration has fallen substantially in the months since President Trump was elected.

In The Economist/YouGov poll taken in the days after the November 2024 election, 47 percent of surveyed Republicans said they wanted Musk to have “a lot” of influence in the Trump administration, while 29 percent wanted “a little” and 12 percent wanted him to have “none at all.”

Today, however, the share of Republicans who say they want Musk to have “a lot” of influence has fallen substantially to 26 percent.

The article goes on to say that 43% of Republicans want him to have a little influence and 17% who want him to have no influence.

@placeholder,not many responses yet.

I guess the MAGA people are still celebrating?

Or just maybe they are going quiet because they are beginning to realize they all have been taken for a ride?

Or just maybe they all have gone shopping because the GROCERY prices have gone down?

Most likely if pressed, they'll do what they always do. Take comfort from the polls that support their positions and claim that the ones that don't are fraudulent.

Yeah. Elon really screwed the pooch with his support for the H1B program. It's going to take a lot of good work at DOGE like he's been doing these past 2 weeks to restore his image in the mind of Trump supporters. Trump supporters believe America is the people. Elon treated America as a sports team with a roster that could be replaced by low cost Indian ringers.

Not at all surprised by this change in sentiment, but don't misinterpret that to be an unhappiness with the quality work he's doing at DOGE. in fact, his popularity is increasing now every day.

And you know this is quality work how? This is the guy who said he could cut at least 2 trillion dollars from the Biden 6.5 trillion budget even though the discretionary part of that is less than 2 billlion. But apparently you believe that even though he's an ignoramus, he has magic powers.

Me thinks it is you who is projecting.   Unless you are the billionaire owner of multiple successful companies.   Probably not, socialists usually aren't.

I think the people that voted for Trump are happy with what Elon is doing. Poor lefties.

I saw a clip of AOC, a darling of the left going on and on about how stupid Elon is.

Even Chuck Schumer admits it's quality work. He even says Musk is doing such a great job he could go after the IRS next!  Tell me anyone that wouldn't throw a party in the streets if that bunch of criminals were brought to their knees. Getting rid of the IRS in its entirely in favor of tariffs is everything we voted for.

Hmm, so all government spending funded by tariffs?

Countries will eventually find other trading partners unencumbered by tariffs, so the money will dry up.

I'm not sure whether the USA can actually supply anything that is absolutely not available elsewhere in the world, so your exports would be more vulnerable to retaliatory tariffs. Oh dear, more sources of money will dry up.

The US dollar is the world's majority currency, because much trade involves the US, and is conducted in dollars. If that trade diminishes (as it will with tariffs) then the relevance of the dollar as a global currency will reduce.

Now you may claim that you can fund all your needs education, healthcare, retirement provision, housing etcetera from your own income. But if trade dries up and jobs disappear, and incomes go, what then?

North Korea imports little and exports even less. Poor people starve. What a powerhouse that is. I'm not suggesting that the USA will immediately turn into North Korea, but...

How silly of me. Of course. You're obviously correct. It must be a conspiracy theory that history existed before 1913.

The most prosperous time in America occurred when we didn't have an income tax. And it will again.

But you go right on believing the WEF/globalist nonsense that modern monetary theory is required or humanity is doomed.

Biden doing his hair sniffing child groping routine. He's a pedophile.

That showered with his daughter.

Remember? The left said it was "normal" for men to shower with their daughters. Sure, normal for the left.

And Biden compelled schools to allow men into girls' showers or lose their federal funding. The left applauded that. F'n creeps

legal immigrants flooding across the border are great for the economy but devastating for the lower middle class and working poor.

Tariffs absolutely raise prices, and the left hates them.

Raising corporate income taxes absolutely raises prices, and the left loves it.

Tariffs benefit domestic manufacturers, while higher corporate income taxes benefit foreign manufacturers.

There was an interesting news article on Fox News today about "Trump Derangement Syndrome."

It seem some left wing liberals are suffering from long "<removed>." Its going to be a long four years for those sufferers. I would suggest to them to relax, adopt the Trump and just let it flow.

I think this is a better way to deal with it......seing him for what he is:-
