paul1804 Posted Tuesday at 04:52 AM Posted Tuesday at 04:52 AM Its a rather outdated law but thats the case for many laws in Thailand including the silly 2 - 5pm, the Election Day ban etc, surely in this day & era it should be dont drink alcohol on the day if thats how you feel, much like some Catholics dont eat meat on Fridays!!! The irony of these silly laws is that a large percentage of Thai's including the makers of these laws will have an alcoholic drink on the day so it makes little sense, maybe in the next century they will get up to speed with reality?? 1

Otherwise - "When in Rome" Why do so many on this forum apply their foreign values to the country they choose to live in.

We are still allowed to drink on that day, just not in bars. i have stocked up and going to have a big one celebrating Makha Bucha. Pool party with a couple of bargirls who have the day off. Free barfine day. That was always my take on this. However I stayed at the Dusit Thani Ha Hin on my 70th..NO alcohol rule. As posted earlier I was going to stop overnight in Pattaya this Makha Bucha day so I emailed the Dusit Thani there and got the reply below. To make matters worse, my nearest mom&pop store won't sell on Buddha days either...and finally I don't own a pool ! Life sucks sometimes. 1

If you must (not you personally) buy the alcohol at the bar the day before and drink it the next day. 1

GammaGlobulin Posted Tuesday at 02:08 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:08 PM I might buy some beer with very tiny bubbles, in advance.
