E.G. 300 baht to cops' pocket, instead of 500B traffic ticket...

Good init, love me a 200b saving.

Common knowledge to everyone from the top down yet nothing is done about it.

During the previous military regime, there was some crack down on that.

But the head of the immigration responsible for that(police General) was only transferred out to nearby province.

And after that, business as usual(he continuing on his old  backdoor trade) LOL.

After all, it is a kind of Victimless Offence.

Just like illegal foreign workers here; filling in the vacancies no one else applies for.

One Perfect Example of the Black Market Economy here.

A kind of Win-Win Deal.

Rider/Driver: No bad marks on their lic.

Cops: Some extra money.

No real problems as long as no actual victims.

Speaks volumes about a society steeped in corruption.

I have learned some complicated issues behind that.

Quite a few 1st world expats in Thailand  are actually savers to some  Thai women who are otherwise likely to end up as the destitute(after they can no longer work as bar girls/prostitutes).

And such foreign men are serving financial guardians to such people(those females are often from  very poor family).

Because of their lack of sufficient education(quite a few who could only finish primary school or even dropped out from it due to their dire poverty), they find it difficult to get some straight jobs.

And not a few men in uniform at immigration bureau also seem to know that...

As we speak I'm watching a scam scandal between an elderly Swiss a corrupt lawyer a very doggy gold laden Thai and rep's from a very concerned BKK hospital unfold before my eyes it's all about to come on top 100%🤔

More win-win situations for you:

- food factory pays under table to inspector not to find fatal substances in your food - I mean we all know all food today is laced with pesticides, what's a bit more of it... everyone dies some day

- beverage producer slips some bank notes to inspectors to sign off on their drinks despite high ethanol content - alcohol is poison anyway, so what difference does it make...

- a man in charge accepts a handy sum to select most expensive bidder for building transportation network, doubling its construction cost - it's not like anyone would have to pay double to use it...

- a construction company pays off inspectors to look away when building a large public building, so they don't notice only less than half the material is going into it while they are building a few other things on the side with missing concrete and steel bars - buildings collapse at times all over the World, why should this one be any different..

- your house/condo check is complete after greasing a few hands not to notice safety systems are largely missing or incorrectly installed - got electrocuted and killed? Definitely bad karma.

- maintenance papers are signed off with a bit of hand padding on your airplane despite it wasn't actually performed or was done incorrectly - I mean... flying is still safest mode of travel regardless of a crash here and there...

- soil and water checks for harmful chemicals turns out negative despite residents around the area one after another get diagnosed with cancer, after a suitcase filled with cash is left for those in charge - World is over populated anyway, so what's a few people dying off in the grand scheme of things...

- someone offers uniformed men a handy amount if they put some arbitrary charge on you and put you away - look at it on the bright side - you'll no longer need to deal with visa extensions and 90 day reporting and agents and fake bank documents to stay in Thailand

That's for those who think corruption is a good thing. While you're using it to avoid laws and regulations it may seem to be, but when you're at the receiving end of the stick, I bet you'll change your mind, especially if you don't have millions to buy your way out of it. And, if you have an ounce of empathy for those who suffer from it on a daily basis. Maybe one day you become one of them.

Actually you already are. Look at this wonderful air you breathe. Now think of the polluters who just pay off officials to be allowed to continue burning and polluting. If you love win-win situations like these, then go out and inhale deeply to enjoy the fruits of your ignorance.

The most familiar example: Some expats and immigration(through visa broker).

Visa extension without meeting prescribed requirements...

Is that all you can do, act like a rabid dog, attacking a few expats... geez mate... get some help, you have serious issues

Not intended to attack others.

Just quoted it as an example of what money can buy here, in response to someone's post.

I don't believe my texts looks like accusing those in that sort of deal though.

If you take it things that way, I suspect you must be paranoid.

If you feel I am a beneficiary of that sort of deal(traffice ticket cheat), it is irrelevant.

As I don't drive here at all.

I  only quoted it as the example,  from my knowledge(tales from those experienced it in the past).

All of your texts here, Fruits of your contentious and overly emotional nature

Pointlessly accusing someone who unemotionally quoted some reality in Thailand.

After all, are you in Thailand?

If so, why you choose to stay here, the kind of place you seem to be abhorrent of?

Or you are half the world away from here, and barking at someone(who isn't any prominent figure) to get your steam off?

I wouldn't know who you are, where you are.

But at least, I can predict you hardly look like living a very happy life.

Seemingly full of anger and dissatisfaction.

Not surprising.

With all those immigration officers fixing long stay marriage visas for 30'000 THB for people who do not even have the 400k in the bank. It's openly done and totally hassle free and one even gets the "fast track" lane once at the immigration office to get stamped.

Is it about the last September incident(A Swiss kicked the female doctor in her back, yelling get out of my property.

They later found out it was part of the public road, not his property. Despite his act of assault, the court dismissed charges against him)?

Worst case scenario.

While No Seat Belts/Helmets case won't hurt anyone else(other than themselves in accidents)...

Denmark secured the top spot, with Finland, Singapore, New Zealand, Luxembourg, and Norway following closely behind.

Damn!  I would have thought those would be some of the least corrupt countries...  🤔

Looks like  happy ending to all 4 parties involved.

Foreign men: Can stay on in their favorite country.

Their wives: Can retain their financial backers(even if the men  cannot prepare 400K up front, they still have some overseas income, e.g, social security payment from their home countries).

Officers in charge: Some extra income(untaxable).

Immigration bureau: Getting 1900B, by just stamping on aliens' passports.

Wow... 18 hours old and nobody's mentioned the "Red Bull guy" yet.

My sources tell me he is in BKK this coming weekend.
