Thailand Ranked 106th in English Proficiency Out of 116 Countries
Generally, there 3 main problems after you get past the brainwashing nonsense of high school and the lack of anything meaningful in elementary school, and they are: 1. General cultural apathy towards the subject with classes that often are like 60 or more (rack em and stack em to save money)... so, managing them is an issue along with teachers not being able to "teach" in those sized classes, it's a lecture. Once you get over 25, then it's not really teaching anymore... but that's what you are paying for at expensive schools, the small classes (plus a few other things). 2. Getting students to participate, practice, do pair and group work, or actually to try. It's the attitude of "Let's just blend in with the herd rather that get singled out" or better to be mediocre and pass instead of inquisitive/ask questions and put you head up. There is a classroom culture of not asking questions... not good. 3. Students, young people, and just people in general (all over the world) are distracted by their electronic devices... scrolling through TikTok shorts or playing FIFA Soccer is much more interesting than listening to some old person talking about the zero conditional or present perfect continuous etc. The more advanced and immersive these devices and apps get, the more distracted people become, especially the young. -

Living in Thailand
I have an online business, this keeps me busy. I like to visit national parks, play golf occasionally, I do like the seaside, I hate tackiness, over crowdedness, girlie bars and all that rubbish. May start a small business with the wife catering for visiting Bangkok Thais and traditional tourists. -

Is It Just Me, Or Are Thai Staff Getting Ruder By The Day?
Very, very lame comment. Nearly every time I see someone complaining, or observing a shortfall within Thailand, some guy, who has not taken the time to think things through, nor to devote any focus or effort to a reasonable reply, says something like "Perhaps Thailand is not for you", or maybe you should leave, or the top prize, "if you do not like it here, go back to your own country". Hard to even respond to such inane statements. Why? Because I have some issues with the place? Sorry to inform you, but the nature of a discerning mind, is to have issues. Though absolute contentment must be a beautiful state of mind, it is not something most of us are blessed with, in case you have not noticed. The fact that I complain, does not mean I do not love Thailand, nor most of it's people. I do. I love my life here. I have a very good life here. But, I do have some complaints, and there are some things I would love to see improved. I should leave because of that? Please. Next time you make a post, try to devote at least two moments of thought to it.
