Biggest economy..... but how is the quality of life? People concentrate only on imagined figures and forget about quality of life. Which is why many of you have ended up in Thailand praising the local women and hating on your own.

In my opinion the quality of life is very low, it has gotten lower as the years have progressed, and it's likely the lowest that it's ever been, if you take into account purchasing power and if you're not super wealthy.

If you own your home free and clear, and you're living in a nice suburban or rural area, life can be of a decent caliber. Not great. But OK.

I wouldn't trade my life here for a life back there, unless I was earning $3 million a year, and I would only do that for 2 years.

China has the advantage of a mostly homogenous population. They've also had the US and the West give them the keys to the cookie jar for the past 30 to 35 years. And the Chinese population enjoys a high IQ, is disciplined, and geared towards being competitive. I dislike their government. But do not sell them short. Except for the tip top elite they don't suffer from a sense of entitlement--and they will not be charitable and kind when victorious. But it's not Trump that has put the US at a disadvantage. That started a long time ago. Trump didn't create a public school system that resembles a mental asylum. He didn't incentivize shipping American businesses to China and flooding them with American FDI. He didn't push China into the WTO naively thinking that they would become just another game piece in the New World Order. And most of all, while China was building up its infrastructure, military, technical capability, and educational competitiveness, the US allowed trillions and trillions of dollars to be drained into Afghanistan, Iraq, and elsewhere in the Middle East and Central Asia. That wasn't Trump. That was primarily the Bushes and the Clintons, with Obama and Biden along for the ride.

China buys 7.3% of US exports

US buys 14.8% of Chinese exports.

China needs US more than vice versa

That depends. What do they export to us? And what do we export to them? If we send them pork, oil seeds, cardboard boxes, uncut timber, and other natural resources, while getting back rare earths, drone components, pharma ingredients, machinery, and electronics, that means we, the USA, are in more of a colonial mercantile relationship with a "mother" country than an equitable trading system. We are dependent. They can get soybeans, corn, timber, meats, and other raw goods elsewhere. We can't replace what they make. Thank you, Bushes and Clintons.

China will not only win this trade war, they will kick the US in the butt. Just another example of simpletons under estimating them, and diminishing not only the US economy, but it's remaining influence. And in the process dramatically overestimating the importance and the influence of the US on the rest of the world.

There is no question America is not the country that it once was, and that the entire planet is infinitely less dependent on them than they used to be.

Which is a good thing for the planet, but a terrible thing for the very simplistic president of the US.

He has never won a trade war with Xi, and he was outsmarted in every negotiation with Kim, Putin and MBS. Trump is an absolutely terrible negotiator.
