Keir Starmer Prepared to Send British Troops to Ukraine to Secure Peace

That may be a good idea though where Starmer thinks he can find extra troops from I have no idea. Troops on the ground isn't simply a bunch of fighting men, it is all the logistical back up that is required.

Vehicles and their support, cooks and their support, medics and their support, suppliers and their support, fuel, oil, lubricants and their support, artillery, ammunition and their support, tanks and their support. If you include aircraft and helicopters, they will also need similar support.

The supply chain will run all the way from the UK to the Ukraine and most of it will need wheeled transport to get it there.

Politicians are very good with their promises, but rarely back things up when push comes to shove.

At a rough guess, for every fighting soldier there will probably be 6 or 7 support troops so to put 1,000 infantry soldiers into the field may require perhaps another 7,000 support troops and a supply chain maybe 1,500 km long.

The supply chain is also part of Russia problem as it stretches from the Ukraine to the far side of Moscow.
