resrea
Hi, We have recently moved to Chiang Mai and - as my husband has some ongoing health issues - we would like to get in touch with a good Doctor here. Someone suggested he go to the Chiang Mai Ram Hospital but I've heard some bad reports - (on this forum actually) - about that place. Any help would be appreciated, thanks, resrea. realthaideal
Hi Rezz Just use the search function here, and you'll find plenty. Then come back n ask more specific questions if you have any. This topic has come up a number of times, and many good Dr's names have been tossed around.
nikster
I can recommend the Mungkala clinic for Chinese medicine. The Doctor(s) there have western MD type degrees and training in chinese medicine - they are going to send you to a western hospital if they think that's better. I find chinese medicine pretty complimentary to western - good for lots of stuff where western medicine has no or only bad answers, like chronic diseases, allergies, back aches, etc. As for western, I have no recommendations - my experiences with the RAM were that they recommend unneeded surgery which is a big no-no for me. Issues with ethics, I would say.
Toolz
You say 'ongoing issues', if it's more complicated than ongoing treatment where the diagnosis has been performed but the problem is stubborn then you won't want to bother with the doctors at Lanna Hospital. Well not the doctor that I saw anyway. He was totally disinterested and showed a shocking dereliction of diligence. Yes I've heard about issues with CM Ram recommending unnecessary treatment. It's a place where you go to be pampered.
Johpa
Yes I've heard about issues with CM Ram recommending unnecessary treatment. It's a place where you go to be pampered. My wife just had needed surgery at CM Ram and the care was excellent. The cost was a fraction of the cost in the US even with the "pampering". They even sent a nurse team up to our home a week after her release for a followup checkup and our house is not exactly close to the city nor easy to find. Steve2UK
If a good General Practitioner is appropriate, I can thoroughly recommend Dr Tawachai at Loi Kroh Clinic - 62/2 Loi Kroh Road (opposite Wat Loi Kroh) & Tel. 053 271571. Excellent English, warm character and very diligent. As others have said elsewhere, also very reasonable/fair prices. If there should be anything outside his abilities to attend to, I'm sure he would be able to refer the patient to an appropriate specialist.
