A man was left seriously injured after his BMW collided with the rear of a stationary trailer lorry, waiting at a red light, leaving the front half of his vehicle severely damaged. Rescuers had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free him before rushing him to hospital.

The collision occurred at approximately 00:10 on 21 February on Sirisothorn Road, inbound to Chachoengsao, at the Pravet-Theprach traffic lights in Theprach sub-district, Mueang Chachoengsao district. Pol. Lt. Pichit Wannarak, an investigator at Saen Phu Dat Police Station, was notified and promptly attended the scene along with emergency rescue teams.

Upon arrival, authorities found a BMW car, registration number from Chachoengsao, with its front end crushed against the rear of a trailer lorry. The car’s front half was wrecked, with shattered windows and extensive damage. Inside the vehicle, the driver was found unconscious with a weak pulse, trapped as his legs were pinned by the dashboard.

Rescue workers used hydraulic cutters to free him, taking approximately 20 minutes before successfully extricating him. He was immediately transported to Ban Pho Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The trailer lorry driver, 28-year-old Jirapat, stated that he had been waiting at the red light when he suddenly heard a loud crash from behind. He confirmed that his vehicle was stationary when the BMW collided with its rear.

Investigators have gathered evidence from the scene, including CCTV footage, to determine the exact cause of the crash as part of the legal process.

The way it is described 95% BMW was on his phone.  I agree the BMW and MBZ drivers here seem to be the worst speeders and tailgates thinking they rule the road.

Let's add some others who might be drug fueled or on a suicidal mission.

Last Sunday I drove down motorway 7 and some of what I saw is just frightening.

Many trucks have no rear lights. I am not saying that is the cause though.

The truck was stopped at traffic lights - would you suggest they were not working either >?

My first thoughts - drunk driver....  perhaps on his phone too... or even drifted off into a booze fuelled slumber.

Luckily he didn't plow into motorcyclists waiting for the lights.

But... I bet alcohol was involved.. I reckon alcohol is nearly always involved whenever an accident that occurs at night time in Thailand (and no, whichever clown is going to ask for proof of that - its my guess / statement, rather than substantiated fact).
