freelancers are asking 1500+ for an hour... more if the girl is cute or sexy. My friend said some he chatted were asking 5k and all of them short time only. The BF experience is over..

Ah!! the 90's  the good old days .I had a similar experience in Phuket.Got the girl who stayed all night no hurry to go home next morning and as I was flying out that day  she offered to pick up my laundry for me. When she got back she completely re-packed my bag and folded all my clothes so I   gave her an extra tip but it was cheap in those days. The girls then had a different attitude then than  the ones today and they wanted to give the customer a good time. When I got home my wife opened my bag and asked me how come it was neatly packed and who folded all my clothes because I usually throw everything in and slam the case shut..I had to think quick and told her that the  housemaid wanted to do it so I let her  because she needed the extra   tip  money. I don't think she believed me but tha all changed when she saw the sapphire ring and bracelet that I had bought her...and now we are still married and she still has the sapphires.

Quite simply a beer bar (half decent) and good spot for people watching

 

I bought 4 Lady Drinks without checking price (my fault)

My 2 cents...

 

in jomtien, in ten years, many things have changed. many small bars have closed, massage shops have closed, now there are many cannabis shops, night markets where you can eat, family-sized chicken coops (4 people in 35 square meters, but the russians are fine with that), many fruit sellers. at 11pm there are few people. from my point of view, tourists have increased tenfold, but the budget has shrunk (beer at 7/11, mango and ganja for the younger ones). the future of pattaya is now in the hands of the russians, if they disappear too, I don't see any other valid alternatives...

During COVID it reported that it had it on good authority that Walking Street nightlife businesses weren't going to have their licences renewed because the powers that be wanted it cleaned up. So what has happened ? - absolutely no change.

Ask yourself why was it that City Hall, the hospitality industry and the local branch of the  tourism association in Pattaya were crying out to the government to extend nightlife opening hours after COVID reopening if the City had actually transformed itself away from nightlife dependency.

I did wonder whether if the number of Russians in Jomtien/Pattaya decreased for whatever reason, people who previously visited would return? I very much doubt it though, perhaps other than previous frequent visitors who were put off by the Russian influx or expats who were put off for the same reason.

 

Your typical holidaymaker either doesn't care who else is there or haven't done their research to consider the impact this may have on their holiday.

The Jomtien problem is this construction mess and one way nonsense these people and their city hall  - concrete/palm trees kickbacks contractors cabal . Screwing the place up . No doubt a massive unnecessary parking garage is coming. Could care less whether the foreigners are Scandinavians or Russians. Jomtien used to be a quaint seaside relaxing resort getaway. Now may as well stay in Dodge. Also these increasing happy sh*t   events along the beach that attract Thais does not help either.

it seems that families with children have decreased and that the elderly and young people have increased, many of whom are opening businesses (real estate, rent motorcycles, ganja shops) all aimed at a russian clientele who cannot speak other languages. the russians will continue to come here as long as there are other russians to manage their holidays. if ganja becomes illegal again, things will change a lot.

I don't know who wrote this and what's their agenda, but none of this is true: it's very much high season in Pattaya, the bars and clubs are flooded with tourists - so much so that the girls have become picky and prices have gone up to ridiculous levels. Taking a girl from a gogo has never been cheap, but now only the bar fine is 2-3k, on top of drinks, and some of the girls want 5k "tip"! Pattaya has never been "a family friendly destination" and will never be.

 

P.S. Neither Terminal 21 nor Central Festival are new. Both have been here for years.

Thanks for the laugh. It's usually the girls who exploit tourists and expats. But I like to view it this way: we're providing much needed financial aid to single mothers (and entire families) in need.

I thought about going to Pattaya this weekend, but not going.

 

It's basically been taken over by Indian tourists now. 

 

Had a weekend in Ho Chi MInh city instead.
