The incidents took place last Wednesday, 19th February, prompting swift action by local law enforcement. The first victim, a foreign tourist, reported her bag was snatched while she stood outside a convenience store on Soi Samakkhi 4, around 9.30pm on Tuesday, 21st February. Her belongings, including a mobile phone and personal documents, were taken as two thieves sped away on a motorcycle. A similar theft occurred just an hour later; this time, a different tourist fell victim outside a massage shop near Rawai Beach. Here too, a mobile phone was the target. Upon reviewing CCTV footage, police identified the getaway vehicle as a white and red Honda PCX, rented by 25-year-old Sam, a visiting Australian. Further investigations led officers to Sam and his 36-year-old girlfriend, Susan, both identified as the perpetrators. A raid on their accommodation today yielded vital evidence, including the motorcycle and the clothing worn during the crimes. Charged under Section 336 of the Criminal Law, the couple now faces serious consequences for the thefts, with penalties including up to five years' imprisonment and a significant fine. Utilising a motorcycle in the commission of the crimes could see their sentence enhanced. This incident has sparked heightened vigilance among tourists and local officials, underlining the need for stringent policing in tourist hotspots, reported The Thaiger. -- 2025-02-21 3 3 2 5 1 3

No, because the perpetrators were falang from a wealthy western nation blatantly Committing low life crimes in an Asian country, it doesn't matter what was stolen, theft is theft. Can you imagine the despair the victims must have felt, possibly losing not only money and phones but also passports as well. 5 2 10

Popular Post Iron Tongue Posted 12 hours ago Popular Post Posted 12 hours ago 1 hour ago, save the frogs said: 5 years for snatching a couple of iphones seems rather harsh. and what does the motorcycle have to do with anything? A motorcycle can be considered using a deadly weapon during the commission of a crime. This changes it from a robbery to an armed robbery. And before you blather about it being "harsh", people have received life-changing injuries and even been killed when struck & dragged by motorcycles. As for the Thais, since tourism is a main source of their revenues, they don't really want to get a reputation for violent crime. They want happy, sunburnt tourists willing to be overcharged for their visit. 1 2 6

They were idiots, stealing using a bike rented under their name. I mean really, that goes beyond stupidity. They should get 2 years just for being so stupid 2 7 4
