Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) to Monitor Foreigners in Thailand

The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) has heightened its surveillance of areas with significant foreign populations across Thailand. This comes as a preventive measure following recent tensions involving Israeli tourists in Pai, Mae Hong Son province.

 

Issued on 21 February, the directive from ISOC's Second Operational Command aims to ensure foreigners adhere to local laws and to maintain harmony within communities.

 

The order stresses the importance of avoiding conflicts that could damage international relations and advises local ISOC branches to focus on Thailand's national security, economy, and tourism.

 

The move responds to a spate of incidents in Pai, where friction between Israeli visitors and locals escalated. As a result, some local businesses have started to refuse service to Israeli nationals due to reported disturbances.

The picturesque town of Pai, known for its cool climate and diverse attractions, draws around 3,000 to 4,000 Israeli tourists monthly.

 

A source from the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok highlighted that many Israelis favour Thailand's northern mountainous areas over coastal destinations.

 

Pai's appeal includes its welcoming atmosphere, culinary offerings, and availability of kosher food, aligning with Jewish dietary laws.

Thailand's Immigration Bureau has admitted to lapses in its biometric system, affecting the tracking of about 17 million travellers last year. You can't improve your behaviour? It's really necessary to show your big belly without a t-shirt at Tesco? And smelling like a skunk?

The problem with Pai is the allowed overcrowding, which stems from locals trying to increase business to unsustainable levels.

So a few unruly Israeli's have now caused many events that seek to demoralize and control as well as supervise, check, and cause chaos with those from Israel because one area attracts many to specific areas for tourism. 

Talk about overkill hmm... Drastic measures implemented to all simply for because a few made the news.Typical Thailand

They did so well (not) with the Patani Malay Muslims to keep (failed) peace but had to have a State of Emergency in place. Will ISOC require a SOE in areas of large foreign populations?

So is this an admission that Thai Police are incapable to assure compliance with constitutional laws? ISOC is a military command and not a civilian agency. The elected PM and House ministers have no authority over ISOC.

I agree with you, some people don't know how to behave, but  that are a a few the most people behave normally. But it seems that all farangs are skunks and have an indecent behavior.

I suppose you've never been to Pattaya??? It stinks almost because of these described farangs there.

Week before last on my way back from Mae Sot I stopped as usual at one of the many checkpoints. Was then surrounded by immigration volunteers and police and asked to pull over to the side. They asked me to get out and show my passport and then proceeded (all 6 of them)  to take photos of the passport and me beside the car holding the passport.

 

Asked them whats up and they simply complained that they had to do it becasue the big boss told them to. They didnt know why and apologised with wais and thankyous.

 

Unusual to say the least.

I have been there once same as Phuket but never again... Indeed to many creepy people and hookers and that is not what I am looking for or want to be associated with

I say round up all the farangs in Thailand and put them in jail.....O-wait I am a farang...Well in that case except for farangs between the ages of 62-64...
