A pick-up truck travelling to Chiang Mai overturned in heavy rain, leaving one dead and three injured in Thoen district, Lampang province.

Authorities reported that crash occurred between kilometre markers 634-635 on the northbound lane, near a biomass power plant in Mae Thot subdistrict. Pol Lt officers from Thoen Police Station were alerted to the incident and coordinated with local rescue teams, including Lampang Rescue Association, Mae Thot Subdistrict Rescue Unit, Sop Prap Rescue Unit, and Omboon Thoen Rescue Unit, for immediate assistance.

Upon arriving at the scene, responders discovered a black Isuzu pick-up truck registered in Nakhon Ratchasima lying in the central road divider. The vehicle sustained extensive damage, with its roof caved in and the front windshield shattered. Inside, rescuers found three injured men, aged between 30 and 35, who were promptly transported to Thoen Hospital for medical treatment. Additionally one occupant was found deceased at the scene, having been thrown from the vehicle.

The deceased was later identified as Mr Surasak Kingkratok, 33, a resident of Ban Pong, Phan Dung subdistrict, Kham Thale So district, Nakhon Ratchasima.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the four men were en route to Chiang Mai when persistent rainfall and slippery road conditions caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The truck veered off the road, overturning several times before coming to rest in the central divider.

Thoen police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the precise cause of the crash.

As usual, driving too fast for local weather conditions is the real reason
