(Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident,) meaning the RTP  who have no skills in this type of Accident ? Thailand has a plethora of safety standards but thats it no enforcement no training there is No specialized goverment dept to investigate

Thailand roads are dangerous to drive at night especially on the poorly lit roads and mountainous regions. Double carriage trucks are a menace to other drivers on twisting mountain roads ( chiangmai to lampang) because the rear carriage would swerve to the centre of the road when taking the corners.

The driver accelerated fast - really fast -down every steep hill.

 

It was nuts.

That too is a lack of proper training, I myself come from a flat country, but even there we were taught how to ride up and down a hill....60 years ago, and here people still haven't figured out how to do it.

Terrible, I was on a bus from BKK to Southern Thailand a few years ago. The driver was insane, driving so fast and reckless. When the bus stopped one Thai lady came down and started hitting the driver and the rest of us did not get back on the bus.

The bus recovered to the police station.

 

Chaos ensued as relatives of the victims from the bus crash  searched for missing belongings, including diamonds and approximately 10 baht weight of gold, believed to have been stored in a handbag.

 

On the afternoon of February 26, authorities brought the bus involved in the crash to the police station for further investigation. Families of the victims arrived to inquire about their loved ones’ belongings. Some relatives reported that valuables were missing, leading to heightened distress amid an already tragic situation.

 

One relative shared that the deceased had valuable items in their bag, including a mobile phone, approximately 10 baht of gold, diamond rings, and important documents. These items were typically carried in a small handbag, which has yet to be found, with only a large bag of clothing located so far.

 

Officials are currently conducting a thorough search for the missing handbag and the valuables reported lost by the victims’ families. They are also inspecting the bus for damage and potential recovery of lost belongings. The situation remains stressful as families hope to recover their loved ones’ possessions amidst their grief.

I have sat in terror decending steep hills in busses many times, drivers going way to fast down dangerous steep gradients and not using gears, add to that fatigue and no log books required, yet promised years ago, and possibly faulty brakes, very tragic.

It is the speed limit (120), and as long as doing 100+, then it is what it is.   They do less than 100, and yea, that's annoying.  If the roads good, I'll do 110 ish, and that's on hwy #4, only a few short stretches, and at times, I've seen the 'frontage' rd moving faster

There is 3 others lanes on the 7 to use if you want to travel under the speed limit.

Do 100 in the RH lane... FAFO.

Reading the comments makes me sick. If you came to live or even visit or even considered a brief holiday here, stop posting nonsense. 
 

You know damn well one of the benefits is cheap and easy travel. Should they really upgrade all the buses?  Would that benefit the Thais or immigrants traveling on a bus to Issan?  They’re out there working construction eight hours a day for 300 baht.  
 

Is it really any of your expert opinions to make fun of a tragic situation because you read a half baked article?

Is it your place to judge authorites in a country that you are a guest in?

 

p.s. I know they are mostly sleeping on the job. But I doubt anyone reading this far would trade places and demand to hike the price of a bus ticket.
