Most of the US contributions to Ukraine have been obsolete and redundant equipment which was slated to be scrapped. The notion Zelensky is piling up cash from America is ridiculous.

 

OTOH, Trump milked the American taxpayer for $240 million by playing golf over 300 times in his last term. His son in law Kushner received $2 billion from the Saudis.

This junk food diet is a ploy to ensure populist favor IMO.   Yeah, no end of photo ops of him posing with the stuff.  But not many pics of him patronizing the restaurants high-end eateries where he holds court.

He also uses food as an intimidation: two incidents I can recall there were photos of him making Mitt Romney eat frog legs at one such restaurant, another more recent was making Bobby Kennedy eat McD's, which I suspect RFK II balked at when the camera was gone.

And then he interupted his boss who had just finished a question and wanted to move on to another. The American President was responding to a, presumably, Ukrainian journalist, who asked about neutrality. The President gave a response, colourful, and in his style, but it was ok, and then said "next question please", and then brought up some unrelated point. Was he trying to make the Presidentlook bad?

You will not gain anything by insulting the intelligence of either Trump or Vance. They do not have low IQs. On the contrary they are intelligent, and are masters at understanding human behaviour.

 

These men were able to succeed at what they did. There are many negatives that attach to both men, but unintelligent is not one of them. Trump has kept his real estate operation afloat for decades. Despite all the bankruptcies and legal losses, he is still going strong, outwitting and outsmarting his detractors.  He followed his own  gut when he would go off script and it worked. He knew his audience better than the media geniuses who were supposed to be experts. Vance was smart enough to get where he was. Both are ruthless.

Trump is a lot smarter than you think and has a much better understanding of the US population and the electorate than all the ivy league political behavioural mappers  and strategists. It is derived from his ability to promote real estate. In many respects the man has some admirable qualities.
