Nothing would surprise me about Qatar, terrible airline.

Flown economy and business with them for past 14 years.

They are the best business class in the World at the moment imo, levels above Thai, BA etc.

100% agree.....    they're the best at the moment... (perhaps other than Singapore).

BUT... I've never 'had anything go wrong' on Qatar... So I've no idea how they handle issues.... and IMO the true measure of an airline is not when things are going well, but when something goes wrong....

... for example, Thai Airways stranding a flight load of transiting Passengers in Bangkok after an issue, it seems they lacked sound protocol to adequately look after the passengers.

The Qatar flights to Doha are Boeing 777's, thus there is a hidden crew compartment at the rear of the plane where they could have put the dead body. Sounds like the crew would rather inconvenience the passengers, rather than inconvenience themselves.

Qatar fly a mix of 777-300ERs, 787-8s, A380 and A350-1000's on that route. I fly it often, minimum 4 times per year.

I try to avoid the Boeings as the Airbus fly smoother and the A380 has the best bus class next to the A350-1000 Q Suites.

Last year, they stuck me on an old 777 with ancient business class (think it was ex-CX plane) and it was poor overall, but really the only poor flight I have had with them.

Every now and then you have passenger causing noise or other disturbance sitting next to you, but children or drunkard or something else. At least the passenger seated next or near the body in this case  could travel in peace, without anyone making noise or jumping to bathroom all the time, just resting or sleeping in peace and quiet.

Not sure about smell though.

Does that mean you'll be avoiding all the following airlines... because their base of origin is a Mulsim country ???

Emirates (UAE), Etihad Airways (UAE), Qatar Airways (Qatar). Saudia (Saudi Arabia), Flynas (Saudi Arabia), Oman Air (Oman), Gulf Air (Bahrain), Kuwait Airways (Kuwait), Royal Jordanian (Jordan), Iraqi Airways (Iraq), Middle East Airlines (Lebanon), Syrian Air (Syria) etc etc ect.....

100% sure, yes.

There are so many others.....

Utter poo they are. Q class 2 years ago LON- BKK, cancelled paid for reserved seat, not informed and no refund even though they at first said they would. One toilet out of service, seat not working, no special meal booked months before and confirmed at check in, even cheap airlines can manage that. What food they did have was worse than economy. Waiting 35 minutes to board on the loading bridge in 40 degree heat. Never again, Ryan air is better than this shower.

What about Air Lingus...     would you want to be sat next to anyone reading the Bible out loud ?

I get your point - I've sat on planes or been in area's and listened to people (Muslims) playing the Quran on their phone at Prayer time without any regard for the disturbance of others...

... But really, far more often I've heard people playing TikTok or YouTube videos for more often....

People can be inconsiderate, whether its a loud Mother of 4 trying to keep them in line and over doing it, to the pished up nutter, to the loud phone users etc...

I don't think we can avoid any of it by choosing a specific airline - particularly the TopTier Middle Eastern Carriers - that said there are airlines I'd prefer to avoid such as Air-India and China Eastern etc... for the general reason that people are more likely to be naively ignorant of their 'travelling neighbours'...

Article doesn't make sense.  It states: "The airline clarified that the crew acted with due diligence, providing alternative seating for other passengers ... " .  So, if empty seats were available, why wasn't the person sitting next to the dead passenger moved?

You must have been incredibly unlucky. 99% of my flights in business on Qatar have been good to impeccable. 🤷‍♂️

Last week on flight back from Doha in Q-Suites 1A was a perfunctory experience. Check-in at Doha business class is a breeze, straight through private immigration and up to the Al Majal lounge.

Leffe and champagne in the lounge, premium boarding at the gate, straight on the plane, champagne before takeoff, personally welcomed on board, requested meal immediately once able to do so, another glass of champagne, glass of white (forget which maybe Riesling), artisanal sandwich for meal, glass of port, glass of brandy, pyjamas on, bed made, slept 3 hours, woken up for breakfast, another satisfying meal and then deplaned first and through priority immigration at BKK in less than 5 minutes. Bag came off the carousel in the first batch as well.

My best experience was on the A380 after an upgrade to first. Cannot beat the fact it has a proper bar on board.

Well I would certainly be willing to take the crew quarters for the duration of the flight 😉

Forty + years ago I took an Alitalia flight which was en route to Rome.  Full flight. Halfway across the Australian continent an old Italian lady passed away.

The death was announced and the Alitalia captain informed the passengers 'I will discuss what action to take with my crew and keep you informed.

Ten minutes later:

- You have probably noticed the aircraft has changed direction and we are headed back to Melbourne because of Australian laws, international laws and Alitalia regulations we must return to the departure point (this was about midnight).

- The deceased lady has been properly wrapped and her body has been moved to the rear galley area and that area has been locked.

- When we arrive in Melbourne I will have further discussions with the Aust. authorities and then advise you further.

From the reports that I read about this incident, the deceased woman was ... er... a lardbucket! The cabin crew were trying to carry her into business class, but the effort was ... er ... killing them.

They should put the deceased in a restroom and shut the door for the remainder of the flight. Who wants to sit next to a corpse?

Then people would complain the airlines stuffed a body in the toilets

And there may well be international regulations about a passenger : toilets ration per aircraft type / passenger capacity.

This might mean totally closing 1 toilet would not be allowed by regulations.

Should be a hatch in the back of planes they can open and drop dead bodies out of

Qatar doesn't fly Boeing.

Do you mean drop dead bodies out the back door on a string, then pull them in just before arrival?

Would need a detailed set of regulations of course.

Better would be to totally ban passenger death during a flight.

Someone posted a previous experience, its sounded pretty logical to me.

I can imagine the family of the deceased would not have been too happy had the body been put in the toilet.
