When have you ever been attacked in 'adult-hood' ???

I've been here over two decades and I've not been in a situation I'd call violent or getting attacked....   though a fool did try to once but he was too drunk and it was too pathetic to consider calling it an attack....

Maybe its a Pattaya / Patong thing... But certainly going out in Bangkok regularly, I never get to witness any issues..... and certainly am not involved in any - certainly not to the point of carrying mace...

.... And if I did feel that need, then I'd probably re-consider where I'm going out, or the kind of character I am to draw that attention.

You already know of one that almost happened (Mr. Gym Rat), that was my second time here where that has happened. I'm glad they both backed down, but I'd rather Mace someone then have to punch them so hard I have to worry about their head bouncing off the pavement and possibly dying on me.

I don't recall the story (another thread I'm assuming).

But what if you come up against some one like Malcom who'll never back down and is so hard, the boogyman checks the closet for him and is the reason Waldo hides??...

.... I imagine mace wouldn't work on him...  he probably snorts that for breakfast.... but it would just make him angry, then what ?

Would using mace or standing up to a delusional lunatic work ???...   is it not easier to say... nah, and just walk away ????

.... the only issue of course is if someone assaults family (wife, children etc)... then I think anyone becomes capable of some very extreme responses and forgets the consequences....

You must be watching the wrong video. The security guy was backing off until the old fella came marching up thinking he was Rambo.

He also backed off straight after the punch, unlike a lot of the security thugs we've seen in previous videos.

I think this Sarawut showed both skills and restraint under the circumstances.

I also can't see a kick to the groin - I wondered if that might have happened prior to the video recording.

at 10 seconds in the clip he gestures with his left hand to come forward at him. At least that is how I see it.. The brit was far from him as he was walking backwards doing that.

A trained Bouncer should be handling this sort of drunken idiot with far greater restraint - The Thai guy instead 'chose' to commit assault...

You're not in Kansas now Dorothy

And the Brit had a choice at that moment. Go off and enjoy the rest of the night, or charge in like Rambo for a fight.

Hopefully this was a lesson learned (finally, at 60+ years old!) and he won't end up getting killed another night as a result of his bad temper.

He's probably been ruining people's nights with his temper tantrums for over 4 decades.

Was the guard charged with assault ? any fines ?

Up to the victim to press charges, and I believe he declined, everybody waied, apologized and went home.

If this Rambo guy fights the way he acts then he is not going to cause anyone any problems.

Neither would the security guard get away with assaulting someone like that in the UK... (not when caught so clearly on CCTV).....

There are laws in the UK which specifically recognise provocation.

I think most of them show a high degree of tolerance. And so do the general Thai population.

The Brit was coming at him very aggressively.
I would have done a lot worse than that light little punch if he had of attacked me like that.

It is the old saying, if you want to start fights in Thailand, you better be able to actually fight.

The sloppy old Brit didn’t stand a chance

He could have just slapped the guy and he likely would have stopped at that, anytime you knock somebody to the pavement, you run a huge risk of killing them.
