In defiance of Trump, I think Nato should put troops on the ground in Ukraine.

Putin is losing men that he will need one day to grow the economy. A huge show of force by NATO, or just EU members, might push him to reconsider.

Might push him to push buttons too. Boom. Oops. Great idea!

Why should US taxpayers pay for what is going on in the Donbas?

why should US taxpayers pay for what is going on in Israel, the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and so forth

You mean the almost 40 trillion dollars National debt? Interest payments more than military spending, and the only way to service debt is inflating the money supply.

The US economy is like the Titanic, will Trump be its proverbial iceberg?

But unlike the Titanic, the US economy is already severely damaged and under water in debt, in all cabin classes.

How?

A first world coutry with first world aircraft would deny Russia aircraft entry into the airpace above Ukraine.

A nice thought but easier said than done, especially if larger scale war is to be avoided.

The story itself admits the limited coverage. The Russians have not risked their air force much but most of their tactics favour the use of long range missiles and drones, anyway. However, the VVS is being upgraded in the meantime and they have developed their own new gen fighter already. Whatever, any NATO warplane activity in Ukrainian skies may well produce the same reaction from Russia as any NATO boots on the ground might do. Risky without any prior agreement, at least.
