Tourists and residents were forced to evacuate in the early hours of the morning of 5 March, when a fire broke out in a condominium in Soi 4 Kor Phai, South Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

At around 03:00, emergency services received reports of a fire in Building B, Room 301 of the condominium complex. Fire trucks were dispatched to the scene, where smoke was seen issuing from the affected unit.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the fire alarm sounding and the units being evacuated. The affected room was locked and the owner was nowhere to be found. Forced to break the door open with a crowbar and entry tools, they quickly worked to contain the flames, which were traced to the kitchen area.

The fire is believed to have started from a gas-powered portable stove, with it igniting items around it and kitchen fittings.

According to eyewitnesses, a resident spotted smoke coming from the room and alerted the building’s security guard, who immediately called the fire department. An emergency announcement and the fire alarm sounded, to evacuate all residents, ensuring their safety as firefighters tackled the blaze.

Investigators suspect the occupant of the room may have left the gas stove on and forgotten to turn it off before leaving. Authorities are now working to locate the room’s owner. Limited fire and heat damage was contained within the kitchen, with smoke logging of the rest of the area and effecting the corridor outside the unit.
