A six-wheeled lorry lost power while climbing Khun Tan Mountain, rolling backwards and colliding with a pickup truck that was unable to avoid the crash. The collision left one person dead and six others injured.

Police from Hang Chat Police Station, Lampang Province, were alerted to the incident, which occurred on the outbound Lampang-Chiang Mai road near the Chao Pho Khun Tan Shrine in Wiang Tan subdistrict. Emergency services, including rescue teams from Hang Chat Hospital, Wiang Tan Municipality, Hang Chat Municipality, Pong Yang Khok Rescue Unit, and Lampang Rescue Association, were dispatched to the scene with cutting tools and lighting equipment.

Upon arrival, authorities found a white Mitsubishi six-wheeled box truck severely damaged after crashing into a pickup truck. The lorry driver was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be freed using hydraulic cutting tools before being transported to Hang Chat Hospital. A male passenger in the lorry sustained minor injuries but declined hospital treatment.

In the pickup truck, a female passenger in the front seat was found deceased, trapped in the wreckage. Rescue teams used specialised equipment to extract her body, which was then sent to Hang Chat Hospital for forensic examination. Four others in the pickup, one male driver and three female passengers, were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the lorry was en route to Lamphun to deliver goods when it lost power while ascending Khun Tan Mountain. As a result, the vehicle rolled backwards, colliding with the pickup following behind. The driver of the pickup was unable to avoid the crash, leading to the fatalities and injuries.

Authorities are conducting further investigations and questioning those involved to determine the exact cause of the crash and pursue any necessary legal action.
